GIBSON, ROBERT JOHN Affectionately known as "Bobby", passed away peacefully with family and friends by his side on July 6, 2026, at the age of 78. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Vivian Gibson; survived by his sons, Andrew (Puya) and David; granddaughter, Isla; partner, Judy Davenport; siblings, Gerald Gibson and Janet (Steve) Sherwood. He is also survived by his many basses, baritones and leads, who will remember his voice and carry his part with them, quietly, every time they sing. A lifelong tenor barbershop singer, Bobby is the most medalled barbershopper in Canadian history, winning two gold and one silver medal in international seniors quartet competition, four Ontario District quartet championships, and 22 chorus medals, including three gold. He was also a proud recipient of the Jeff Pritchard award for achievement in quarteting while demonstrating humility and gentlemanliness. All who knew him loved him dearly and will never forget his humour, dedication, and warmth. An avid world traveller, he was partial to cars without roofs, and roads without destinations. Bobby spent many weekends at his beloved Harmony Ranch, visiting with cherished friends, walking around barefoot, woodshedding the high notes, and wandering from fireside to fireside. The family will be announcing the details of a Celebration of Life at a later date.
