Marlene Ruth Shuttleworth

September 1, 1949 - July 3, 2026

With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Marlene Ruth Shuttleworth announces her passing on July 3, 2026 after a short battle with cancer. Marlene lived a life overflowing with joy, mischief, devotion, and an unmistakable spark that made every room brighter simply because she was in it.
Marlene was the beloved wife and soulmate of Michael James Shuttleworth for 58 extraordinary years. Their love was the kind of partnership people hope for, a bond built on laughter, loyalty, adventure, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Together, they created a life rich in family, friendship, and unforgettable stories.
She was a loving mother to Shaun Shuttleworth (Joanne) and Brad Shuttleworth (Jenn) and proudly embraced her role as “Ma” to many of the boys’ friends over the years, each one welcomed, fed, teased, and loved as if they were her own. Marlene’s heart had room for everyone.
She was a devoted grandmother to Hannah, Lucas, Lacy (Ryan), Carson (Maria), Nate and Amelia who brought her endless joy and kept her cheering from the sidelines of hockey rinks, ball diamonds, rugby fields, track meets, and horse trials.
Marlene will be dearly missed by her siblings Heather (Ray), Penny (Pete), Pam, and Ron (Lisa). She is predeceased by her sisters Pat and Wendy (Chris), and her brother George (Renee), with whom she now shares eternal peace.
Marlene was fun-loving and full of spunk. You never quite knew what she might do next. From barefoot water skiing off the dock to legendary Halloween shenanigans, she embraced life with a fearless grin and a readiness for whatever challenge came her way. Her humour was quick, her energy contagious, and her presence unforgettable.
Above all, Marlene loved fiercely. She showed up, she stood by her people, and she poured her whole heart into every relationship she held dear. Her legacy is one of devotion, laughter, courage, and the kind of love that leaves an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
The family extends their deep gratitude to Dr. Smith and the incredible staff at Ed’s House. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to Ed’s House.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Colborne Legion on July 19 from 1–3 p.m. Refreshments will be served in honour of Marlene’s lifelong love of good food. Her family invites everyone who knew Marlene to join us to celebrate her.

From my first meeting of the Arbourne family, Aunt Marlene welcomed me. All the wonderful celebrations together were full of fun, and shenanigans. She was the life of the party. Marlene was so proud of her boys, their families, and those in her circle. She was small, but oh so mighty. The love that Uncle Mike, and Aunt Marlene had was a true inspiration, and testament to their vows. Sending sincere condolences, strength, and prayers to the Shuttleworth family at this difficult time. May the memories, and her admiring determination help at this difficult time.
