Richard Charles "Rick" Teal

March 3, 1959 - June 20, 2026

Richard Charles Teal, son of the late Charlie and Jean Teal was brought into this world in Trenton, Ontario, March 3, 1959. Unfortunately, while recovering from heart surgery, Rick’s beloved soul passed on at Peterborough Regional Health Center due to complications on June 20th, 2026. He was surrounded by those who loved him and took his last breaths in the arms of the love of his life, Linda ‘Ozzie’ Osborne.

Together for 42 years, Rick and his wife Ozzie were inseparable. They were often known around town as each other’s “partner in crime”. Throughout the years they continued to love each other unconditionally. Rick and Ozzie shared a rare, true connection that will stay between them, even going forward.

Sports was a passion both Rick and Ozzie shared. Growing up in his hometown of Colborne, he started playing hockey at a very young age. Even as he grew up, he continued playing in the men’s league and coaching hockey for his son, Michael ‘Ozzy’ (Kristine) Osborne. Rick was more than just a father to Mike, he was his Dad. Teaching him how to conduct himself and become the man he is today. There wasn’t a time where Rick allowed his eyes to determine who he was or what he could do. Rick was a talented man who used his love for the game to teach the youth in the community. Some of his favourite moments were coaching and sharing his love for the sport. Rick also coached both Ozzie’s women’s baseball teams for many years. He took coaching women all in stride, always smiling and laughing (it’s never easy). Rick loved the Montreal Canadiens and Peterborough Petes. He didn’t say it much, but he also had a soft spot for the blue jays.

Rick had a kind heart and warm personality. He was truly genuine and to know him was to love him. He was a pillar of the community, providing a sense of safety and warmth throughout the neighborhood.

Rick was not only a husband and father, but so much more. The proud grandfather of his cherished granddaughter, Chloe Osborne. Son-in-Law to the late Harold ‘Buck’ and Vernetta Osborne, who loved him as their own. A treasured uncle to Kathy and Greg (Ashley) Smith, as well as brother in-law to Karen (Late George) Smith. He remains an unforgettable great uncle to Tanner and Rowan Smith. Throughout the years, Rick has become a very special father to Ccarah (Brian) Dagenais, and grandfather to their children, Ethan, Olivia, and Griffin. Forever a beloved brother to Bonnie (Late Phil) Wakely and uncle to Melissa and her children, Brooke, Briah, and Brett Boulerice.
