Emma and family, with sincere condolences. Charlotte and I worked together at General Foods Research from 1966 to 1969. It was great to see her in Cobourg every so often over the years. Enjoy your many memories.

We were so sorrry to hear of Charlotte's death. She was so witty and well informed. It was really enjoyable to discuss literature with her. She had strong opinions but could argue them very persuasively. When our parents visited each year from the UK we really enjoyed meeting up with her at Tom and Anne's. She and Art were unique. They had so many memories of life in England. Our condolences to the whole family.

I took a writing class with Charlotte years ago and she wrote a lovely piece about a knitting shop that I absolutely loved. So of course whenever I ran into her my first question was “Are you writing?” I have not seen Charlotte for years but she’s like a ray of sunshine in my memory, always gracious, and always a joy to talk to. My deepest condolences to family and friends.

I knew Charlotte primarily as a member of Victoria Hall Volunteers on which she was a very active and valuable member. Charlotte never hesitated to contribute and speak her mind, often with strong opinions on certain issues, and, as such, she was a formidable force and this intimidated many. I personally was not intimated by her but rather I greatly respected her and her ability and confidence in herself and her opinions. I considered it a badge of honour when she confessed to me to being intimidated by me! My sympathies to her family whom she spoke of often.

Met Charlotte when she moved into Legion Village. I served her on the dining room, she always made me laugh. Have missed her since her departure from the Village. Condolences to her family

Dear Emma and your entire family, Your mum was a wonderful, brilliant person. I always enjoyed talking with her. She always asked what was happening, with real interest. As a teenager I would try and avoid that question, but there was no escaping :) She was a truly great friend to my mum and dad. Lots of laughs over many good years. Love to you all.

Emma and Kate, very sorry to hear of Charlotte's passing. Over the years she was a great friend to my mother, Anne. Emma, I will always remember one time while babysitting you, you showed me a suitcase full of new books that your mother had bought for you to foster your growth as an emerging reader. She was a force for the powers of a good book.

I met Charlotte on a few occasions when she was back in the UK visiting Emma and her boys. She was a lovely woman. To my dear friend Emma, and all your family, I'm so sorry for your loss. Love from Charlie, Phil, Sasha & Jess xx

My first foreign trip was to Cobourg to stay with Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Art when I was very little, with my mum and brother Giles. I visited many more times including on my own when I was a student, and then with my partner Bill in 2016 when we reminisced about Art and childhood memories. We shared a love of reading and supporting the library seems a perfect way to remember her .

I was thinking of Charlotte recently and wondering how she was doing…She was a vibrant and intelligent woman, a tour de force in any group she participated in…condolences to her family…I have missed her presence at CFUW these past few years…she had a sparkling and penetrating wit!

My sincere condolences to Emma, Kate and family. She was a very intelligent woman with many comments that were straight from the cuff. I will miss her dearly.

My condolences to all of Charlotte’s family on her loss. Charlotte worked for many years at the Medical Center with my mother, Winnie Mitchell. I later got to know Charlotte as a member of the CFUW book club, where she was a valued member for her enthusiasm for good literature and her wry humour. We have all missed her, since her accident.
