Lewis Orr

June 16, 1956 - May 21, 2026

Lewis passed peacefully with his family by his side on May 21, 2026.

Allan Lewis Orr, always known as Lewis. Pre-deceased by his father, Allan Orr, and sister, Edith (Storey), survived by his mother Letty Jo and brother Malcolm (Cindy).

Wife to Colette and father to Aezia (Jessica), Freya (Colby), Ameila, Florence and Soren, Courtney (Clinton) and Taylor.
Uncle to many nieces, nephews, and cousin to many as well.

Lewis was a natural athlete and enjoyed hockey as a youngster; rugby, wrestling and football in high school where he was athlete of the year in his senior year; junior football in Montreal, and football at the University of New Brunswick (UNB).

He joined the Canadian Armed Forces and in 1977 tragically suffered a broken neck and spinal cord injury in San Diego which left him a quadriplegic. Lewis was sent to the Montreal Neurological Institute for rehabilitation where his family, friends and former teammates surrounded him with encouragement and support. His determination persevered and Lewis was able to walk with crutch canes and began to sing again.

Lewis relocated to British Columbia where he lived until his passing. His love for the family farm in Rock Creek, “The Ranch”, and watching his family run it and make it what it is today was truly in Lewis’ heart.

Lewis was always a fighter and full of determination, which allowed him to persevere through the obstacles thrown at him during his life, including his courageous battle with cancer.

Extraordinarily passionate, driven, thoughtful and funny; a conversation with Lew was rarely dull.

He enjoyed the conversations and telephone calls from his family and friends during his last days.
As he said: “I am having my wake while I am awake”

He was an inspiration for many who had the good fortune to call him a teammate and friend and will be missed by many and is waiting in heaven for us to join him.

Many thanks to the staff at the Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks, BC for the care Lewis received in the final days of his life. A special thank you to Rod Bell who travelled from Fredericton to spend time with Lewis in his final days.
