Carol Gaye Reilly

September 8, 1936 - May 14, 2026

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother who passed away peacefully on May 14th in her 90th year surrounded by her loving children.

Cherished wife of the late Peter Reilly (April 18, 2025). Loving mother of Jim (Judy), Elayne (Scott), Tom (Teresa). Much loved grandma to Lindsay (Chris), Kristen (Brett), Nicole (Myles), and Brett (Delaney). Loving great grandma of Reilly, Charlee, Olive and Jane.

Dear sister and lifelong friend of Donna (Alan) and brother-in-law Jerry King. Predeceased by her parents Edith and Stan Phillips of Welland.

Carol was married to Peter, her high-school sweetheart, for 65 years and they were together for 72 years. She put endless effort and love into caring for Peter as he declined the last years of his life. Carol fought hard to carry on but never fully recovered after losing Peter, only 13 months prior.

Carol adored her grandchildren and her ‘great-grands’ who all filled her with so much love and joy.

Proudly graduated at the top of her class as a Registered Nurse from The Mack Training School for Nurses in St. Catharines and won the Medical Nursing Award. The friendships she made remained with her for life.

Carol will be forever loved and deeply missed by her family and friends.

Special thanks to the staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital and the compassionate staff at Ed’s House.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held, as per Carol’s wishes.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Carol’s name, a donation to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg would be greatly appreciated.

We can honestly say how much we enjoyed the company of both your parents. We cherished the many stories that they told about their lives. They certainly complimented each other through their long time together. Most of all, their greatest joy was their children and grandchildren! They will be greatly missed, but certainly, never forgotten.
