Nemec, Rudy Stephen – Peacefully, on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Joyce Carol (nee Wilson). Loving father of Victor (Angie Williams), and Joe (Heather). Cherished grandfather of Charlie and Julia. Dear son of the late Mary and the late Victor Nemec. Brother to Ed Nemec (Patricia).
He will be missed by many nieces and nephews and neighbours.
Rudy lived his entire life in the Grafton area, working at the Grafton Cannery, Grafton Co-op, and then worked on the family farm where he ran a small dairy farm and worked on many of his tractors and many of his neighbours tractors. A heartfelt thank you to Al Carruthers, Mark and Matt, his good friend Steve and Norm. Also, the family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital for the exceptional care and support they gave to Rudy in his final days.

A cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Grafton. A celebration of Rudy’s life will take place at a later date and cherished friends and family are welcome to attend. Details to follow.

Donations to the Northumberland Hills Hospital would be appreciated by the family.

To the Nemec Family: I am saddened to read of the passing of Rudy. There were no better milk house visits than those I enjoyed with Rudy when I picked up milk at his neat and always well managed farm. Cheerful, self sufficient and never a complaint. Happy to have had one last visit with when I stopped by his farm last year just before Christmas. Still going strong at that point. May you too, always have pleasant memories of Rudy.

MARY Martorino - May 30, 2026

Robert and I were very sorry about Rudys passing. Our condolences to his family. He was always pleasant and always joking when he would come in to pay his taxes. We always would say spring is here when we would see Rudy out getting his land ready for planting. He was just a wonderful sight. He will be missed by many.

Jennifer Darrell - May 30, 2026

I am sorry to read of Rudy's death. We were grateful that he faithfully and reliably worked our field for years for grand rental payment of a loonie a year. He used no fancy machinery, good old fashioned farming and could repair anything. I loved his standard response when the weather did not co-operate or yields were low. Rudy would shrug his shoulders, spread his hands and say, what undoubtedly all farmers resign themselves to... "What you gonna do"? My sincere sympathies to Joe, Victor, Heather and Angie, Ed and Pat and all the Nemec family

Ann & Dick Raymond - May 30, 2026

Joe, Victor, Ed and Families. He was an amazing man. friend and neighbour. He would do anything for anyone that needed help. He will be missed. Treasure the memories.

Angela & Greg Emerson - May 30, 2026

Having lived across the road for 25 years, we have had the opportunity to observe Rudy's remarkable work ethic and dedication to his farm, and to his family. His light was always on at the crack of dawn, and he was on his tractor or cutting wood or working on equipment late into the day. He was an amazing role model to his family. Our condolences to Victor, Angie, Joe, Heather, Charlie & Julia. Greg & Angela Emerson

Steven Goodman - May 30, 2026

Dear Family: Rudy was a dear man and One of very few I would consider best friend. He was a great man; He was VERY.. kind, honest, loving, intelligent, wise, sensible and straightforward. He was totally devoted to his family. He always did the honourable thing. He could always be counted on. He will be painfully missed. Every time I see a green or red farm implement, i will think fondly of him. Rest easy my friend.
