I have known this beautiful lady for so many years… I believe since we were teens. She was a beautiful spirit inside and out. A smile that would brighten your worst day. And heart! She had so much love and light… she was the true definition of a beautiful human. She deserved so much more… more life, more love, more time. TJ, I told you before… you were her greatest love and her biggest blessing. A mom could not be more proud than your mom was of you. I’m so very sorry for your loss… she was absolutely precious.

Candace and family. My deepest condolences. I am so sorry to hear of Cherie’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

I was 17 years old when I met Cherie. I was a teenager working at Shoppers Drug Mart in Cobourg as a cashier. A couple months before Cherie started, my own mother passed away. On Cherie’s first day, I was assigned to train her at the cash register. As soon as I met her, she reminded me so much of my mom; similar in appearance as well as being profoundly soft-spoken, warm-hearted, and joyful. I told her right then and there that she reminded me of my mom who had just died, and Cherie cried, genuinely. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. From that day forward, every time I checked the schedule to see who was going to be my supervisor on any given day, I would pray and pray that it was going to be her. When I knew I was going to be opening or closing the store with her, it was not only a good day, but an exciting day, and she made me actually look forward to work. If I was coming in for an evening shift and Cherie was clocking out from the morning shift, it was devastating for me, because it meant that I wouldn’t be working with her that day. With her, it never actually felt like work. She made such a positive mark on my life, from adolescence far into adulthood. She always took me home after work in her famous “Crzygirl” Jeep, and without fail we would stop and get bagels and coffees from Tim Hortons on the way, chatting and laughing together the entire time. I know that she has left a similar mark on the lives of all of her other “work children” as well. I am so eternally grateful to have known her as well as her son T.J. whom she adored and cherished. What a seriously profound, incredible loss! I am sending my deepest condolences to T.J. and the rest of Cherie’s family.

I don’t know her personally, other than always recognizing her familiar face around town. She always smiled and greeted me as if we’ve always known each other. I’m very sorry to hear of her passing. She will definitely be missed. Wonderful woman.

I was in the room down the hall with my husband Keith at the same time. I am so sorry for the family. She was truly one of a kind. I also worked with her at SDM. The kindest gentlest person you will ever meet. RIP

Candace, Alexander "T.J" and family, I got to know Cherie when she was working nights and weekends at SDM. We would have a chat, catch up on our battles and life. Cherie made a difference in a lot of people's lives through just a simple smile or hello. A beautiful person gone too soon. I was devastated to hear of Cherie passing away. I talked to her awhile back & she said things were going good. She was back to work & the last 2 scans were good. So sorry to hear of Cherie's passing. She was one of the first patients I met during my chemo treatments and we shared a lot of information and many laughs. We've all been missing her presence and one of the nurses asked me just a few weeks ago if I had heard from her as they all enjoyed her company as well. See you on the other side my friend
