Passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, in Cobourg, Ontario, at the age of 88.
Born on September 19, 1937, in Toronto, Ontario, Florence—known as “Flo,” and affectionately as “Babe” to her family—lived a long life shaped by family, community, and changing chapters over the years.
Florence was the wife of Rod Baker for 10 years, and previously the wife of the late Gordon Anderson for 50 years. She was the mother of Gregory Anderson and Donna Wood (Donald), and step-mother to Shari Terwilligar (Jeff), Rob Baker (Karen Kunkel), and Colin Baker (Noelle).
She was a grandmother and great-grandmother to many, and part of a large extended family that includes nieces, nephews, cousins, and her brother in-law Bruce Anderson (Cheryl). She was predeceased by her parents, John and Doris Harwood, and her siblings Joan Davis, Jean Harris, and Robert Harwood.
Florence had a lifelong appreciation for music and the arts, particularly musical theatre, and was an Honourable Lifetime Member of the Cobourg Concert Band. She enjoyed community concerts, especially summer performances in the park, and was a parishioner of the Church of St. Peter in Cobourg.
She found enjoyment in travel, time with friends, and simple pleasures such as listening to music, watching birds, cooking, and spending time with her beloved dogs, who were cherished companions throughout her life. She was also known for her thoughtfulness and for keeping in touch with those in her life in meaningful ways.
The family wishes to thank Jane, Marsha, Marie, and all involved with her care at Ed’s House for the care, kindness, and support they provided.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 240 College Street, Cobourg. A reception will follow, with interment at 3:00 p.m. at the Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter, Cobourg.
