With heavy hearts, we share the passing of “Rocky” Rodney Albert Yde, born June 7, 1956, who passed away peacefully on April 9,2026 surrounded by family and friends at Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg, after a strong and courageous battle with cancer.
Rocky was the beloved son of the late Felix and Yvonne Yde.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Christina (McCavish) and their children, Chantale and Rocky Yde (Lindsey McWhirter). He was a proud and devoted Papa to his grandchildren Duke Yde, Oaklyn Hellam, Landon and Blakley Simpson, who were truly the light of his life.
Rocky was a loving brother to Betsy May (Rick), the late Ronny Yde (Marleen), Jane Sumners (Bob), Ricky Yde (Sylvia), Randy Yde, Nancy Bowman (Gary), Belinda Smith (Wayne), and Natalie Dalgarno (Andy). And will also be miss by his best friend Mike Perry.
Rocky was a gifted cabinet woodworker who could turn a simple piece of wood into something beautiful. He loved spending time on the water fishing, and nothing made him happier than watching his grandchildren play sports and cheering them on.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mule, Dr. Koneru, Dr. Cornish, and especially the nurses at the Cobourg Cancer Care Clinic and Ed’s House Hospice for their compassion and care. A special thank you also goes to Mike Perry, Kelly and Dwayne Brooking, Belinda and Wayne Smith, and the Ferguson family for their love and support during this time.
At Rocky’s request, there will not be a visitation or Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ed’s House Hospice in Rocky’s memory.
Our Papa
Our Papa has gone fishing.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort knowing he has found his peaceful place.
A place where the sun rises softly
over quiet waters,
where the sky stretches wide and endless.
And in his hand, as always, rests his favourite rod.
He is home now,
where the breeze is gentle, the waters are calm, and the fishing never ends.
But the love he gave,
the laughter he shared, and the memories we hold
will stay with us forever. 💙
Chris, Chantale, Rocky and family so very sorry for your loss, taken way too soon, may you get strength from each other and the many memories in the difficult days ahead
Our heartfelt condolences to the families on both sides . On the occasions that we would meet Rocky at our health care office, stories of the daily catch, trailers and modified golf carts would abound. This has been the routine for 30 plus years. Tight lines where you are Rocky…
Condolences to Friends and Family So sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Rocky for a number of years at General Motors. He was a Wonderful Person and will be missed. 🙏
