In his 80th year, Michael passed away unexpectedly ‘to be with Jesus’, a few of the last spoken words to Heather should he not survive.
Loving husband to Heather (White, Bolton) for 28 years. cherished father to sons Scott, Steven and John Bolton (Valentina), special grandpa to wee Monica, beloved only son of Mervin and Anita Haines (deceased), remembered by Helen Haines and missed by his fur babies Chloe and Shadow.
Michael always liked being referred to as the ‘favourite’ brother-in-law to Suzanne (Dave) Caldwell, Sharon (Paul) Clinton, Jim (Kathleen) White, and Beatrix White (John Vescio) and the ‘fun’ uncle to many wonderful nieces and nephews and their children who he enjoyed spending time with and were shocked and saddened by his sudden passing as were his many friends.
Employed by the TTC (engineering) for 30 years. Following his retirement at 50 years old, Michael enjoyed many years working part time in the car industry. But by far his favourite position was during Covid when he decided to be a greeter at Walmart (Cobourg) just because he loved being ‘out with the living’ (a favourite quote of his Uncle Johnny) and talking to people! Many there often complimented him by saying he was the best greeter!
His life was filled with many activities, golf (favourite), bowling, playing cards, volunteering, morning coffee with friends, men’s Bible study, and being a part of the church life groups and the church community.
Michael truly loved being with people and his ‘larger than life’ personality always made an impact on those he briefly met and those who became his lifelong friends.
Many thanks and appreciation goes out to the paramedics in Halton region and Cobourg, the medical staff at Milton Hospital, Northumberland Hills Hospital, Peterborough Regional Health Centre and Kingston General who took excellent care of Michael during his sudden illness to his passing. A special acknowledgement goes out to those who gave Michael spiritual support and prayed with him; at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Janice Buck and Tyler Tavares (pastor) and Kingston General Hospital, Tim who visited Michael in the morning of March 17th and Dave who stayed with Michael throughout the rest of the day until he passed later that evening.
As per Michael’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Cobourg Alliance Church on Saturday, April 18th, Visitation 11:30 am - 1 pm, Service at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael can be made to Cobourg Alliance Church, Northumberland Hills Hospital or Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Heather, We are broken hearted for you, for Dear Michael, and the family..his sudden and difficult illness left us shocked. We have so many wonderful memories. Lovely slow lunches, countless shared dinners, many outings, theatre evenings, and family gatherings. Not one visit passed, that he would not ask about my 3 kids and their families, and we had great discussions about life, kids, the economy and everything in-between, always with laughter present. We love him, and will miss him so very much. All our love, to all the family Beatrix and John

Dear Heather My heart is heavy with sadness for your loss and for the loss of my dear friend Michael. One of my fondness memories is of the Golf Group competing for the “Taylor Masters Golf Tournament” inside our house and hearing Michaels’ infectious laugh at the mistakes the women and the children made while trying to navigate one of the 3 par holes around the house. Keep your memories close to your heart. He is with his Mom and Dad now! Rest in peace my dear friend.

Our sincere condolences Heather & Family. Michael will be sadly missed for his friendly visits while walking Shadow and bringing her for visits with Daisy and us. Always a smile and a joke or two to brighten our time together and at the card nights with the boys. May you be comforted by loving memories!
Micheal always had such a ‘presence’ in a room full of people. He will be missed by many. Heartfelt sympathy Heather.
I'm truly having a tough time writing whatever comes below through the tears that are literally flowing. Mike and I enjoyed many unforgetable years of golf at CedarBrae each Saturday and he became my idol, my mentor and the one that I always tried to compete with. Each match finished with a few laughs, a handshake and a beer. Whenever I had issues with a challenge in life I always knew that Mike had the direction for me to take. My many memories of Mike will last until I join him in Heaven at Augusta National. My sincere wishes to Heather and his family.
Dear Heather, Jim and I send our deepest sympathies. Michael was always such a jovial and caring man with complete love for the Lord. He is in the arms of angels now , we pray for your peace .
Dearest Heather, Oh how Michael will be missed in this world. He was such a peaceful friendly man. With love, Lorna
