Aunt Jo wasn't our aunt by blood, but she was completely and entirely our Aunt Jo. Anyone who knew her would understand exactly what that means. We grew up with her as part of our world, woven into our mom's Newfoundland life, and then as neighbours not far from us in Toronto, where we spent plenty of time at their house. And then came the farm, which became the backdrop to so many of our best memories. That farm. If you were lucky enough to spend time there, you know. And if Jo was in the kitchen, you were very lucky indeed. She was a Newfoundlander in the fullest sense: warm, funny, and completely without pretense. She always had mischief in her eye, the kind that made you feel like you were in on the joke, even when you weren't entirely sure what the joke was. We she will be missed by so many people. But we're so glad she was ours, in all the ways that matter. With love always, Avril and Jill

So sad to hear of Aunt Jo’s passing. She was always so full of life-loved to laugh, had a constant twinkle in her eye and truly loved to hear all the news from home. Thinking of Hammie, George, Susan, Loren, Julia and families and sending love and hugs.
