After a short battle with both colon and liver cancer, Kay has left us to be with Carl in a better place. She passed away quietly and peacefully in her sleep while holding my and Sue's hands at 9:55 a.m. March 3, 2026 at Ed's House. Her sister Rose, cousin Kathy and best friend Mary were all by her side as well. Pre-deceased by her husband Philip Carl Grosjean and by brother Michael Callahan.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Terry Grosjean (Susan Bridgman). Loving step mother to Kim Bergen (Bill) and Dawn Brow-Jones. Devoted sister of Thomas Callahan, Rosemary Callahan and Susan Callahan. Cherished grandmother to Jessica Grosjean and Rachel Grosjean (Alex Tubbe), Justin Jones (Mallory), Shane Jones and Richard Bergen (Kaytee). Great grandmother to Natalie Bergen, Harper and Jayden Jones.
She worked at Bird Archer in the accounting department for over 30 years. She loved tending to both her vegetable and flower gardens throughout the summer at our home in Grafton.
My Mom was the sweetest, kindest human being on the face of this earth. She adopted me when I was 5 months old and always told me that she picked me and all the other parents just got who they got. I am a very lucky man.
She loved her granddaughters, Jessica and Rachel more than what I could ever put into words. They were truly her pride and joy.
There are too many family and friends to mention individually and thank from the bottom our hearts. I couldn't even begin to name every one for fear of omitting just one person that has touched my and my family's life in one way or another. To everyone, I cannot express my gratitude enough now and in the future.
Rest easy my sweet, sweet mother. I have loved you since the day you took me home and I will love and honour you until the end of my days.
There will be a visitation at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East Cobourg on Saturday March 14th from 10am-1pm. Funeral service to follow here in our chapel at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eds House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in her memory.
She was such a sweet lady and great neighbour. We had many gardening conversations over the years I lived beside her. I will miss her.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful woman but now she and Carl and Mike will be shouting "Bingo" up in heaven. She will be missed by anyone who were lucky enough to know her.

So sorry for everyone's loss. I too was a longtime friend, neighbor and coworker. Kay was the kindest, most generous and had a great sense of humor. She will certainly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Terry and Rose and rest of the family.
I grew up in Grafton and for all my childhood and teen years Kay was one of my best friends. I moved away and touched base with her through the years but as time went on we did not see each other very much. I phoned her a few weeks ago to ask her if we could meet if I came down to Cobourg. She never mentioned that she was ill. I feel so badly that I did not act sooner. I guess the advice of not putting off something is so true. Kay-I will remember all the fun times we had together. My condolences to Terry, Rose and families. I am certainly going to miss our daily phone calls. Kay has been my friend for over 50 yrs. through good times and bad times. We worked together at Bird Archer, took a few road trips. We drove down east and took the train to Winnipeg. Lots of great memories. Rest in Peace my friend
I met Grandma Kay working at Viceroy Homes about 13/14 years ago! I took riding lessons close by her home in Grafton, and I would often visit her for dinner after work before my lessons. I will never forget her butter tarts! I just had found out I was allergic to gluten but I couldn’t pass them up, and ate them anyways (and enjoyed the repercussions after hahah, but it was worth it!). She knitted me slippers and we spent hours chatting and I truly miss her. I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to stay in touch after I left working there. Sending love and prayers to your whole family. She was a gem and touched my heart. I won’t forget her! 🤍
Rose, I am so saddened to read that Kay has passed. I actually ran into her getting groceries and we talked for more than half an hour catching up. My memories of she and rose and Tom and I meeting up at bingo for many years. Kay and Carl would often stop by our house for coffee and a visit. They were both such awesome and funny people. I will miss her, but she is now with Carl in a better place. RIP Kay

Terry, Rose and family, my heart is broken over the loss of Kay, my long time friend and confidant. I met Kay when I started working at Bird Archer and we became great friends, then for 15 years at Viceroy Homes. Kay became a member of my family where all my siblings, kids and grandchildren knew her as Grandma Kay. We spent many seasons golfing together where I almost had her swearing….very hard for her to do! I will think of my friend ever day. RIP Kay until we meet again❤️
