Earl Roy Hodder passed away suddenly on Monday, February 23, 2026 at the age of 88 years. He was surrounded by his loving family at Ed’s House Hospice in Cobourg, Ontario.
Roy was born in Traytown, Ireland’s Eye, Newfoundland on February 2, 1938 to Albert and Ellie (nee Watton) Hodder (both deceased). He was the adoring Husband of Jane (nee Peddle) for a truly beautiful 62 years. Roy was the ever-loving Dad of Shelley (Jim) and Debbie (Greg), and the incredibly proud and doting Granddad to Siobhan and Liam. He was Brother and Brother-In-law to Walt (deceased) and Margaret, Calvin and Monique, Vernon (deceased), Ivy and Irvin (both deceased), and Joyce and Jim. He was Uncle, Cousin and Friend to many. Roy spent his career as a carpenter, and could always be found building and puttering in the yard, garage or basement.
Roy - husband, dad, granddad, son, brother, uncle and friend - has gone home. Until we meet again, we will see you in the rays of sunshine and hear you in the songs of the birds.
Visitation will take place at St George’s Anglican Church in Grafton on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00am, with the service following at 11:00am. A reception will be held in the hall at St George’s after the service.
The family wishes to send heartfelt thanks to the staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital and Ed’s House for their compassionate care of Roy.
In remembrance of Roy, please consider a donation to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in place of flowers.
We are so sorry to hear about Roy's passing. Such a kind and gentle man. Our most sincere condolences and love to you Jane and to your family. Roy was the best of neighbours and was always ready with advice on gardening, carpentry and many other subjects. He will be sorely missed Alicia and Al BT
