It didn’t take long to find out how funny, caring and sweet the soft-spoken Elmer Weatherup was. I wish I had had a chance to know him much longer. A life well lived, Elmer. My condolences to all of his family. I know he will be greatly missed.

There was something so special in those simple moments — the comfort of their home and the quiet love that filled the room. We will miss driving by in the summer and seeing Elmer contentedly cutting the grass on his riding lawn mower, taking pride in his yard. His gentle spirit, his sweet laugh, and that unforgettable smile brought light to everyone who knew him. Elmer will be deeply missed and forever remembered . I am so sorry to learn of Elmer's passing - I thought he would live forever esp when I heard that he had survived not one, but two, ligthening strikes as a much younger man. 99 years is no small feat esp since I know he lived a hard life. He also lived life as a good man so that probably explains his longevity. My deepest sympathies Evelyn - you made the perfect couple and I can only imagine how painful it must be for you to be without your soul mate and constant companion.

Dad saw this person walking across the field ( which was a long way in the snow )and came into the barn and introduced himself. My name is Elmer Grills and I live on a dairy farm down the road and I was wondering if Dad was hiring. Elmer worked for Dad. They became great friends, and still remain.
