Passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in his 96th year. Walter was born in Kellinghusen, Germany to Wilhelm and Else Husen. He was the eldest of three children. As a young boy Walter experienced the hardships of the war years. Emigrating in 1954, Walter landed in Montreal and then made his way to Toronto where he met his wife Alisa Reinert, also recently emigrated from Germany, and they were married six months later. They were together for 70 years. Settling on a farm in Box Grove, Walter worked as a Quality Control Inspector for General Electric until he retired at the age of 50 to a cottage in Parry Sound and a property on Pine Island Florida.
Walter is survived by his cherished wife Alisa and their children, Gary (Natela) and Karen and his beloved grandchildren Lindsay (Darcy) and Liam (Rayna) and Ryan (Stefane), Rob (Audra) and his great grandchildren Harper, Finley and Lennon.
A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital. Condolences can be received at www.MacCoubrey.com
