We're very sorry to learn of Tass's passing and to know there will be no more walks and talks as she shepherded her dog around the block, no more waves as we drove by, and no more sincere inquiries into our lives as long-time neighbours who lived up the street. So hard to believe. Rest in peace, Tass. Our sincere condolences to all your family.

To Leigh and Bill and All the Corbier Family, Tass, would always introduce me as her youngest, oldest friend. We grew up together in Streetsville and then spent the last 30 years living an hour apart. I always felt that she would live forever. In fact she is …in all our hearts and minds. If you ever wanted someone to tell you “ like it is”….it was Tass ( with kindness). The world is a better place because of you. Rest peacefully old friend…you deserve it.

To Tass’s family. My sympathy on the loss of your mom, grandma and great grandma. She was the epitome of compassion, kindness, gentleness and caring. We in the neighborhood are grieving with you. For many years Tass could be seen walking to town and later around the block with her dogs, which brought great continuity to daily life. She and Ed made a wonderful caring home for you, their children and a happy place for friends. May lovely memories help now and in the coming days

George and Susie Boycott - February 18, 2026

Mary Norton - February 18, 2026

Tass was a very respected and esteemed member of our library community. Tass was independent and always grateful to her library staff whenever we could manage to help her and we, (staff), took great delight in that - it kind of 'made our day' , because Tass really expressed her gratefulness for everything ..... she was truly a lady who took nothing for granted and made us all feel valued. Rest in peace Tass.

Joan Kennedy - February 18, 2026

Corbier Family. Tass was a wonderful friend to our mother Ada and our family for many years. Even after mother moved to Brighton, Tass would still pop in for a visit and tea. She had such a kind and caring heart. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Rest in peace, Tass. From the Williams family, Joan, David and Kathleen.

Nadia Bock - February 18, 2026

Will always remember Tass for her kindness and tolerance, her acceptance of all, her honesty and creative spirit. In the NOC choir she readily welcomed me as a newcomer. I loved her sense of style, finding the most colourful outfits. I admired also her steadfast commitment to her solid values, among them, healthy living and a spiritual outlook on life. I will miss our lively visits and discussions and learning from her example of a life fully lived.

Mark Hewitt - February 15, 2026

I came to know Tass through my wife, Tamar, her niece, and from the very first moment she welcomed me as family. Tass had a rare gift for hospitality — a warmth that made everyone feel instantly at home. Her generous heart, easy laughter, and genuine interest in others created a sense of belonging that extended far beyond her own household. Through Tass, I became more deeply acquainted with the community she loved so dearly. She believed in people, especially the potential of young minds, and quietly supported efforts that encouraged learning, creativity, and the building of something meaningful. Working with her around the Community Makers initiative was a privilege — she understood that small acts of encouragement can ripple outward and change lives. Tass carried herself with grace, resilience, and kindness. She lived in a way that reminded all of us that love is shown through everyday gestures: a welcoming table, a listening ear, and a steady presence when it mattered most. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, the family she cherished, and the community she helped strengthen. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts. — Mark Hewitt

Pat Westrope - February 15, 2026

Bill and I wish to express our sincere condolences in the loss of our beloved friend. It all began 58 years ago when Buck, Tass, Edward and Lexy moved to Parliament Street in Colborne and we lived 2 houses to the east. It ended last Tuesday when I said good bye to her. During those years we shared both good times and troubling times as we both navigated the challenges of life. Always Tass would defer to God's plan and with love, faith, and time all things became manageable. We shared in the raising of children, Bible study discussions, travels abroad, Oldtimers hockey, knitting projects, gardening, and many more interests. She was my strength and my sounding board on many occasions. I will miss her immensely ,but I know she was ready to move on to her next life. She is at peace now and free of pain in the arm's of God. Rest in Peace , my friend.

Tamar Drushka Hewitt - February 15, 2026

I had the surprising gift of 9 weeks with my Aunt Tass last Fall, when I was able to come and stay with her and care for her round the clock. We accomplished so much in this time, and what stands out to me about this, was her sheer determination to do whatever was suggested by her doctors and physiotherapist, if she believed it could help. Also her laughter; that in spite of her pain and discomfort, she found things to laugh at. I know that she loved to read, to sing, to walk, sew, quilt, explore thrift shops, to visit with her many friends and to ride horses. She loved her retreat days at the Villa St. Joseph in Cobourg. It must have been so difficult and disheartening to leave these behind her, and yet she never once complained about any of it, in all the time I was with her. She also taught me to make jam many years ago, when I was starting a family of my own. I know that the family will miss her Pyjamas at Christmas, and that we will long treasure the many quilts that she left us with. I hope she’s riding a horse again and singing with a choir.

Pat Murphy, President, St. Mary's CWL Council, Grafton - February 15, 2026

On behalf of St. Mary's CWL Council, Grafton, I extend condolences to the Corbier Family. Tass was "an angel, with a heart of gold" who walked among us. Her church and community will miss her in so many ways. By now, she will have already joined the choir in Heaven. May her soul rest in peace!
