Peacefully on Saturday February 7th, 2026 surrounded by family in his 97th year. Loving husband of the late Martha “Marie” (nee Thomson). Loving father of Andrew Buntin (Barbara) and Janet Buntin-Henson (Doug). Dear grandfather of Mathew (Gerry), Ian and Graeme. George is predeceased by his siblings Mary Jane “Mabs” Isabella Coughlin (Eric), Robert (Rita) and Ann “Nancy” (William). George will be dearly missed by many extended family, friends, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to take the opportunity that was missed due to COVID-19 to Celebrate both the life of their mother Marie and their father George. An informal joint Celebration will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. on Saturday March 7th, 2026. The family would like to invite guests to stop by anytime between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

I got to meet and see George at the GPL over the last year. Sometimes it was a simple smile and a nod, sometimes a wave, and other times George would share memories of Cobourg and more. I wish him the peace and love of family reunion and a calm lake. Condolences to his family and loved ones.
