Eleanore Patricia Humphrey passed away peacefully at her home in Cobourg on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 87.
She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas G. Humphrey and a devoted mother to Stephen (deceased 2017, Leslie), Reed (Dawn), David (Michelle), Mark (Michelle), and Kim. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Noelle, Rachel, Brayden, Beau, Carley, Sarah, and Tyler, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Eleanore was the cherished daughter of the late Albert Hornby and Donna (née Holdcroft), and a dear sister to Ron (Dean). She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Rayne (Rex) and Robyne (Greg), along with many extended family members and friends.
Known to most as “Pat,” she had a zest for life that never faded. Family meant everything to her — especially time spent at the cottage and the much-anticipated Christmas in July, where laughter, stories, and togetherness filled every corner. Pat loved to travel and embraced life fully, spending winters in Florida after Tom’s passing and recently enjoying the trip of a lifetime to Scotland, Wales, England, and Venice, Italy, alongside her brother Ron and sister-in-law Dean, with Rayne and Rex by her side.
Pat touched countless lives with her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful gestures — especially her handwritten cards and cheerful stickers that so many came to treasure. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely.
In keeping with Eleanore’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held later this spring at St. Margaret’s in the Pines Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
We met Pat once she moved in next door and our grandkids called her “the Lovely Lady next door”! Pat loved life to the fullest, enjoyed a glass of white wine on the deck, dinner and a game of Twisted Seven. RIP Pat with the love of your life. We’ll miss you dearly.
We are so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We became friends when as young couples we moved onto Shoreland Cres in the early sixties. Our kids became friends and we soon found that Pat & Tommy had a lot in common with us. We enjoyed partying, dances & lots of good times together. Pat will greatly missed.
Dear Humphrey and Hornby families: Pat has been my friend since high school. I am heartbroken over her sudden and unexpected passing. My sincere condolences to her children and their spouses, her brother and family, her grandchildren and her friends. She was such a vibrant, kind-hearted person and I will always treasure our friendship and I will miss her immensely. Rest in peace my dear friend. On behalf of the Bailey family (Mike and Joan, Terry and Cathy), i wanted to express our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the family on Pat's passing. Both Pat and Tom were very dear friends of my parents, and I personally have known them the whole of my life, as i had the pleasure of growing up with Pat and Tom and "the Humphrey boys" very much a part of it. My memories of Pat are many, as are my family's (my parents even more) - from random get-togethers, pool and New Years parties, Fire Fighter Picnics, and cottage trivia games and revelry, Pat was always a ton of fun, a dancing machine, quick to laugh, warm, and thoughtful. We will all continue to cherish our time and memories with her, greatly. Sending love and hugs to the family. Lori
We had the pleasure of meeting Pat after my parents moved next door, and were greeted with open arms by such a lovely and welcoming lady. Pat brought an unmatched positivity to every discussion and was such a joy to be around. Sincere condolences to the family, may the memories of good times shared together help get through these difficult times. Rob and Laurie

Sending my sincerest condolences to Pat's family. She was such a joy to be around. Gentle, thoughtful and so kind. I only met Pat last year but was instantly drawn to her charming character and delightful nature. She will be greatly missed.
I enjoyed many conversations with Pat, she had some great stories, I will miss the positive energy she brought to the room, my condolences to the family.
There aren’t many people who are lucky enough to have grandparents, let alone grandparents who showed up to EVERYTHING. My grandparents didn’t miss a single milestone as I grew up. Every birthday, graduation, dance recital, holiday, school award…they were there. She and my grandpa gave us all the ultimate gift, a cottage to grow up going to. A place where we all got to just be kids…get dirty, dick around, swim, fish, tube/ski. She even let us have full blown popcorn fights in the living room. I can honestly say those were the best years of my life. I have endless memories that I am beyond thankful for. You couldn’t be in her presence for more than five minutes before she’d be asking you “have you had your hug today?” At the age of 86, she passed away peacefully in her sleep, finally reuniting with my grandpa, the love of her life. I’ll think of her every time I watch Mrs Doubtfire or Footloose or pop a bag of popcorn. I hope you’re dancing in the sky now, Grandma 🪽🤍
