Donald David Philp

May 15, 1951 - January 24, 2026

Donald “Don” David Philp, born on May 15, 1951, departed from this world on January 24, 2026, with his closest family by his side. Don was known as a compassionate and caring man who always strove to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. The many people who crossed his path were engaged by his stories and his gentle sense of humour.

He is survived by his cousins, Pat McCourt of Harwood and Doug Blackley out in BC, along with Pat's 4 children Duff (Erika), Kristin (Moe), Kady (Mike), Korri (Elijah) and their daughters. He will be greatly missed by his long time friend Contessa Bishop.

Since Don’s move to Harwood, he has made many new, close friends small and tall. He will be remembered for his lawn tractor rides around the community. We know his presence will be missed.

Don touched the hearts of many and left a lasting impact. May his memory be a source of comfort and solace to those who mourn his passing.

At Don’s request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be arranged in the spring.

Donations on Don’s behalf can be made to Toronto’s SickKids Foundation.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Amanda myers - January 26, 2026

I met Don through my husband at the community auto repair shop. Harwood Automotive was one of his daily stops on his tractor rides. Don needed some extra help so he hired me to drive him into town from time to time to run errands and to clean his home on a bi-weekly basis. He was very positive and always had a joke to lighten things up. Don told me stories of all his spiritual gifts. He told me stories of all the woman he helped out in his life along the way. I am very grateful to be one of those woman he helped. Don gave me feedback and advice on my own spiritual journey, he supported me by giving me a cleaning opportunity and he was my number one Avon customer! Don was a wonderful man with a very kind heart. No matter what he said, he always meant well. Through our conversations Don would stop me and say "it is beyond all understanding". This I am slowly but surely starting to understand. Rest in peace. My greatest supporter and my dear friend Donald Philp My condolences to Pat (thank you for keeping us in the loop he loved and depended on you very much) The young family members he had in his life (He was always thinking of all of you) And to Contessa (who I have never met, but Don said nothing but nice things about you)

We only met Don a few times but he impressed us as a good and gentle soul! That would to be a grand epitaph for anyone. He will continue to live in our hearts.
