I too remember John and Eileen and the two boys they had at that time. Many times I babysat the boys while John and Eileen attended church or a wee break from the kids. John was a kind soft spoken man who always had a wave and “ hello” to those walking Burnham St. My condolences to you Eileen and all your family.
I was first met John as a very young boy at his father's farm in Grafton. He was a great friend to my father for eighty years and a kind and steady presence in my life. John was a well rounded man, equally comfortable working the land, chatting with neighbours and friends, and singing in church. One of my favourite musical memories was performing for John and Eileen (and my parents, Joe and Marcella Lawless), with their son, Séan, playing sax, clarinet and penny whistle.
Sending our thoughts & prayers to Eileen, families & friends on sad news of John's passing. John was a kind & gentle man. Always up for a interesting conversation. A true family man. RIP John. Jay, Chris & Megan.

So sorry to hear about John what a gentleman we would have a good chat together at dominion store Cobourg in the 70s and always looked north to his farm going by on # 9. Rest in peace John
Dear Eileen: Please accept my sincerest sympathy and caring thoughts in John's passing. He was a true gentleman. May he rest in peace.
I remember Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor from the late 1950's, early 60's on Burnham St. South. They lived just a few doors down the street with 2 small boys. They always gave a feeling of quiet acceptance and friendship to the marauding gaggle of kids wandering the street in "those days". I recognized his picture and their names from over 60 years ago, they left that deep of an impression on a kid under 10 years of age. Thank you both.
My core childhood memories revolve around sacred heart and the O’Connor family. I will never forget your gifts of music John and Eileen. Rest easy.
I first heard John's tenor voice in 1965 at the Sacred Heart Church in the village of Harwood. I can remember him saying: "Will you join us in singing Holy, Holy God Almighty.." I got to know both of you over the years since then. The last I saw John was on his 80th birthday at a Mass in St. Michael Church. While John's singing voice is quiet on earth, it is certainly echoing in Heaven.
Eileen - so sorry to hear of John’s passing. His voice is still, but Heaven hears it! My condolences to the whole family, and prayers for your peace.

Dear Elaine and Family I'm so sorry for your loss. My favourite memory of the O'Connor family is from church in Harwood, many years ago: Elaine playing the organ, Katherine on flute and Joanne with a huge 12 string guitar, accompanying John's strong and beautiful voice while the sons supported from the pews. It was an inspirational and peaceful presentation. Peace be with you all.
So very sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences. Healing prayers to help you through this so very difficult time.

Sending love and prayers to Eileen and all of the O'Connor Family, John was a lifelong friend of our family. He was always kind, sincere and encouraging with such a calm presence. My parents always admired his deep faith, love of family and appreciation of music but most of all, his unquestionable love for Eileen. This was so clear in all our interactions with them over the years. And Eileen, was similarily dedicated to him which provided inspiration to those blessed enough to know them both. Our heart goes out to you Eileen and to all of your childen and their families. Love Marybeth, Rob and the Barrett family
