Aino Irja Manninen (nee Salenius)

May 10, 1944 - January 11, 2026

Aino Irja Manninen (nee Salenius) – Passed away on Sunday January 11th, 2026 at home in her 81st year. Aino was the beloved wife of Aulis Manninen and cherished mother to Anita Korhonen (Sam), Antero Manninen (Kristen), Tanja Yurick (Ryan), and Johanna Manninen (Harry Neutel). Loving grandmother to Miia (Anthony), Jordan, Grace, Matti, Annastiina, Elina and Suvi.
Aino will be dearly missed by many extended family and friends here in Canada and Finland.
Words from her husband, Aulis: "As mentioned above, Aino was born in Finland but moved to Canada in 1967.We found each other in Toronto and were married in 1971. After 54 years of a blessed marriage, it is very hard to let her go. But she is in a far more glorious place now. Her main goals in life were to serve God as an evangelist and to help lead people to a heavenly kingdom. She also raised her family in a godly environment and was also a supportive companion to me. Lovingly, your husband, Aulis."
Visitation will take place on Saturday January 17th, 2026 at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E., Cobourg from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm. Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow. Interment at York Cemetery, Toronto will take place at a later date.
If desired, memorial donations to Arctic Mission Outreach Trust Fund in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by the family. Please find the information at https://www.arcticmissions.com/; 2324 River Road North, Wallaceburg, Ontario, M8A 4K9.

To the Manninen's Family My deepest condolences. I will never forget the zeal and enthusiasm of this woman of God, who shared the wonderful story of Jesus without compromise, without hesitation, and above all with an unwavering hope of seeing souls come to salvation. There was no age group she did not hold dear, and no ethnic group she did not seek to reach with Christ’s outstretched hand. Thank you, Mrs. Manninen Dominic Kibale

While I know Aino is celebrating in heaven, my heart feels sadness. Aino was like a second mother to me growing up and so many of my happiest childhood memories were had having sleepovers with Johanna and feeling always at home in her home. When I think of Aino I think of motherly love. Sending prayers and blessings, my heart is with you all. - Elisa

Michael Wissenz - January 16, 2026

Hello Aulis, Eino has a fond place in my heart. She was always patient and loving and such a wonderful mom and wife. I have many happy memories of visiting you when our children were young (and we were too!). You and your family made us feel welcome and happy. We all share a love of children and of the outdoors. We skiied together a few times, but you Finns were always in front, gliding along effortlessly while I struggled to keep you in sight. I am sorry Eino is gone, and I hope you have a good and rewarding life without her, the way she would want. Take care Aulis and thank-you for all the great visits and happy memories. I can still taste Eino's cinnamon buns. She had a good life. Michael Wissenz

Rukouksin kannan teita kaikkia Jumalani eteen.
