The legacy which Art left at the West Collegiate lived long after he retired and continues to thrive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His many quiet acts of kindness made a huge difference to staff and students; he never sought praise or recognition for them- he offered his support in a truly aultruistic manner. He was the kindest man and a teacher who imparted a love of learning and a love of science in his students. Our condolences to the Delgarno family on your immense loss. Caroline and Brian McNamara

As a teacher Art had a way of pulling his students into the moment. He used humour, bets, and challenges to help us do well. He was quite a character and I am sure all who knew him will find the world a little bit dull now that he has moved on. Hugs to family and friends.

From the early days in the sixties when we were together trying to encourage family life education, to the more recent years when we jumped ship to St. Peter's, Art has been a faithful, smiling, kind man who gave his all until he couldn't. Mr. Dalgarno, taught chemistry at CDCI West in '86. I still remember him telling the class not long before we were all about to Graduate; that we should cherish this time together with our friends, because we would soon all be off to our separate lives, and these moments in High School would never come again. A good way to live your whole life I'd say. He genuinely cared for his students. My deepest condolences to his loved ones. RIP Mr. Dalgarno.

Cathy and I were saddened by the news of Mr. D's passing. He was a man that made the world a better place. Always smiling and scheming back in the day. So many memories come flashing back when I heard the news. As a 10th grade kid you don't expect a chemistry class to start by Mr. D throwing a test tube across the room and seeing it shatter into a million places. Mr. D then asks ok... what kind of reaction was that? 30plus kids were now locked in and we never looked back. I had grad students in University ask me why I underlined all my headings on my lab reports. I would tell them Mr. D taught me that. He made a difference in my life and I will always remember Mr. D. Now later in our lives Cathy and I have watched our youngest son develop a relationship with Mr. D and Nancy. Our son's favorite customers are most definitely the Dalgarnos.
