Michael passed away December 13th, 2025, with family at his side at Ed's House, Northumberland's Hospice after his long, brave fight with lung cancer.
He was born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada with his family in July, 1975.
Michael (Mike) was a beloved Son to Beryl and Ian Grieve, and devoted to his brother Derek Fraser Grieve who passed away June 28th, 2009. He was proud Uncle and will be sadly missed by Rebecca (spouse Daniel) and Jessica (spouse Shelby) and relatives in Scotland and England.
He worked for Solarfective since his early 20s and most recently for the last few years, Legrande, with its head office located in Dallas, Texas who took over the company.
Michael was a free spirit, a great outdoors man who spent weekends and every chance he got at his trailer on Paudash Lake, just south of Bancroft.
He had a great love of cars and his red Stingray Corvette was his pride and joy.
He spent many happy winter vacations at the family home in Port Charlotte, Florida.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Ed's House for their compassionate care and kindness, which brought comfort to Michael in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday January 3rd, 2026 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King Street East Cobourg. Memories will be shared at 2:00pm and will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre.
Mike truly was one of the best people I've met. He always had incredible energy, and a way of making everyone around him laugh and smile. I was lucky to work alongside Mike for many years at Solarfective, and will always cherish the memories, especially all his crazy stories and jokes. He will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Mike.
Mike was always so welcoming to me and my sister, especially when we came to Canada for the summer. He treated us like his own and helped me grow my confidence in a time I had very little. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without him and for that he will always be in my thoughts.
My beautiful cousin, the kindest most beautiful soul. Thank you for giving Finn so much of your time, you changed his life forever. Family was everything to you and you were everything for your family. Your beautiful spirit will forever be around us all. Til we meet again Mike. xxxxxxxx

My sincere condolences, Mike was a wonderful man. It is so sad to hear his passing. I worked with him at solarfective for 8 years he always made me laugh and when having a bad day he was always there cheering me up. Sending the most sincere condolences to all the family. Mike will be missed dearly.
So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I spent many laughs with him around the fire or sitting with him on the dock at Paudash. The world is short a very good man, who cared about people & loved a good conversation. I will miss you brother.
