Passed away peacefully at the Toronto General Hospital with his family by his side on Wednesday December 10th, 2025 at the age of 70.
Born in Bethel, New Brunswick October 9th, 1955, he is the son of the late Roseline and Alyre Gallant. Son in law of the late Sybil Hicks (nee May). A loving husband for 51 years to Reta “Carol” Louise (nee Laird). Devoted father to Michelle Wilde (Ronald), Ronald (Heather) and Thomas (Theresa). Best Grandfather ever to Jordan, Joshua and Jasmine Wilde, Logan and Kaeli Gallant. Brother to Gordon, Claudia DeWolfe (James), Wilfred (Helen), Michael (Diane), the late Sandra Nickerson (Arthur), the late Robert (Grace) and the late Stephen (Joyce). Brother in law to Roger Laird, Rodney Laird, Roberta “Nancy” Tripp and the late Rose Dempsey. Ron devoted his time to his grandchildren, playing baseball or Monday night darts. His favourite enjoyment was his annual vacation in Cayo Coco, Cuba. Ron has been employed at Belden Canada for almost 52 years as a millwright. He will be greatly missed by many friends, family and his fat cats Larry and Maggie May.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name made to any organization of your choice would be appreciated.

Carol and family our sincere condolences for your loss. Ron was always fun to be around. Our trip to Cuba, we will cherish those memories. Ron was always so happy in Cuba. Your trips to our cottage were special. Ron determined to get in the Kayak was so funny, we tell that story to this day! Ron created special memories where ever he went. His love for his grand children and family made him a great man! Ron will truly be missed but never forgotten!

Had the pleasure of working with Ron for 39 years at General Wire Cable then later at Belden. Enjoyed the many ball games we played in, Ron was very competitive and was an awesome pitcher for us. Will be greatly missed RIP Ron.

Dear Carol, Michelle, Ron, Tom, and the entire Gallant and Laird family, Ron was one of a kind. Cindy and I met Ron and his family when I played for his baseball team, General Wire and Cable. He took a chance on an outsider from Niagara Falls. Great memories of Ron's love of baseball and the teammates he assembled. Extremely sorry for your loss. Ron was part of our gang of malcontents at dialysis. He was a funny guy. Always talking about his family, you all meant the world to him and you were always on his mind. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I've known Ron for over 45 him and years . Played ball with him and against him, golfed with him. We were on union executive together for a quite a number of years. He always told it like it was. No BS . He will be truly missed. RIP Buddy 🙏
