Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg, in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Debbie (nee Harvey). Loving father of Jordan (Ryan) Richardson. Cherished grandfather of Olivia Richardson. Treasured son of Sadie (nee Smith) and the late George Inia. Dear brother of Wayne (Lynn) Inia and the late Darlene Gillespie. Brother-in-law of Michael Harvey. Uncle of Jeff (Emily) Inia and Pauline (Eric) Gillespie. Nephew of Jean McCorry and Fred Smith. We are deeply grateful to Paul and Lisa Phillips for their steadfast friendship throughout the years. Special thanks to Sandy and the late Terry Greer for the joy they brought with their Christmas visits over the years. Before his Parkinson’s diagnosis, Squid enjoyed his many days playing golf at Dalewood, Ashbrook, and Penryn. He was also quite skilled at pool and darts, and was always proud to show off his trophies from his younger years. The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff at the Northumberland Hills Hospital, particularly the nurses and doctors on 2A (especially Beverly, nurse practitioner, for her support) and in the Palliative Unit, for their kindness in the last weeks of Squid’s life. A celebration of Squid’s life will be held at the Port Hope Legion (29A Thomas Street, Port Hope) on Saturday, January 10th, 2026, from 12pm-4pm. Very casual, drop-in style. Donations to Parkinson Canada or to the Northumberland Hills Hospital – Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family.
Dear Deb and Jordan. We are so sorry to hear about Dave’s Passing. Our sincere condolences to you all. May he rest in peace 💕💕💕
Always had a good time playing 🏌️♀️ with Dave. In our port hope men's league.
My condolences to the family and cousins who knew David. Prayers to the amediate family.
Squid was one of those people who you always looked forward to encountering in the hallways at TCS. He was the most affable guy around. I have many fond memories of those interactions. My thoughts and condolences go out to all those who knew him and will miss him.
Dear Debbie, Jordan and family, So very sorry to hear of Squid's passing. Though working in a busy environment Dave always stopped to say a quick hi with a smile. Such a lovely quiet presence, so helpful and kind and a gentle man. My strongest memory is what a proud father Squid was. God bless, Judi Cunningham
Our condolences to Squid’s wife Debbie and family. A good friend throughout the years.
What a loss; Squid was a kind and supportive colleague at TCS. My deepest condolences to all who loved him.
Dear Sadie, Debbie, Jordan, Wayne, and the rest of Dave's family - I spent the first half of the nineties in pretty regular contact with Squid. I remember him as a kind, decent man, skilled in what I might have reasonably called Some of The Fundamentals of Manhood. Always a professional, but with a glint in his eye that suggested he knew why you were running or who was responsible. Though you may not hear from all of them here, please know there are hundreds (and hundreds) of people who remember him fondly and will be saddened by the news of his passing. Sincerest condolences, Scott
My sincere condolences Debbie and Jordan .... David certainly had some rough years. Your care for him was more than commendable. I was very lucky to have had David as a close friend for so many years. He will be missed by all.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Debbie and Jordan, Dave was such a well liked person at TCS, always had a smile and a great story. He loved to talk about golf and other sports but mostly loved to brag about his daughter. His visits to campus were most welcome. Rest in Peace Squid.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked very closely with Squid for many years hauling furniture and appliances with him from one end of the TCS campus to the other; up one set of stairs and down the next. His good cheer and sense of humour made it a joy to do these things and he always had me laughing. I thoroughly enjoyed his company. My prayers are with you all.
