Lyle Arnold Williams

April 6, 1951 - November 13, 2025

It is with deep sadness and love that we share the passing of Lyle Williams, the heart and soul of Lakeport. Lyle was more than just a friend or neighbour — he was the steady, smiling presence that made our little community feel like home. His warmth, humour, and kindness touched everyone who crossed his path.

Lyle is lovingly remembered by his devoted partner Brenda, his lifelong best friend John Fox and his close friends. Predeceased by parents Walter and Ada, brother of Joan (late Wilmot) Kennedy, David (Norma), and Kathleen Pirson. Father to Shane, Grandfather to Rebekah and Leah and Uncle to many who adored him and will forever hold him close in their hearts. He also leaves behind the entire community of Colborne, who will miss his generous spirit, quick wit, and endless care for others.

Lyle had a gift for making everyone feel like family. Whether he was lending a hand, sharing a laugh, or simply brightening your day, he did it all with love. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the community he helped shape.

Lakeport will never be quite the same without him, but his light will continue to shine in every corner of the place he loved so dearly.

A special thank you to the staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital for the compassion they showed Lyle and his family during this difficult time.

In keeping with Lyle’s wishes, no service will take place however Memorial Contributions may be made to Northumberland Hills Hospital.

Forever in our hearts, Lyle — your kindness and spirit will never be forgotten.

MESSAGES OF CONDOLENCE / DONATIONS

Jim Cowie - December 5, 2025

So sorry to hear of Lyle’s passing. He was an unforgettable part of my life growing up next door to me. He was a couple years older than me, so as long as I can remember, Lyle was there. I remember the pathway under the chestnut trees between our houses was quite worn in those days. He would knock on my door, I would knock on his, then we decided what we would have fun doing that day. Many great memories from that time. I realize now that without Lyle, I would have missed so much back then. My condolences to Joan, David, Kathy, Brenda, and of course John.

Greg & Bonnie Bilcox - November 26, 2025

Our Deepest sympathy to Brenda and Lyle’s family! Lyle has a special place in our hearts and memories! Lyle and Greg were old friends who shared some tales of fishing ( the best one involved Lyle’s mother discovering fish in her bathtub) and hunting from their youth, as well as being Lyle’s sidekick building cottages one summer. Greg even convinced Lyle to lend him his z28 to drive me to the prom in 1974.. those who knew Lyle, that was a big deal! We will always fondly remember and be indebted to Lyle’s hard work and support building our garage, the first phase of our building plans. Those days were filled with stories and laughter! My condolences to all the family on the passing of my cousin Lyle. I have memories of our family driving from Port Hope to visit Aunt Ada and Uncle Walter, running outside around their country home in Colbourne, picking peas fresh from the garden, sliding down the ‘back’ bannister, swinging in the tree swing, and eating wonderful food at their table. I can picture Lyle’s mischievous smile and energetic spirit. My thoughts are with you all at this time.

Mark Kennedy - November 19, 2025

I am so grateful for the countless memories I have of Lyle. As both my Uncle and Godfather I had a close relationship with him and will cherish all of the moments we shared together. Whether it was playing in slo-pitch baseball leagues in Colborne and other tournaments or the countless rounds of golf we played at Murray Hills, we always shared plenty of laughs and fun. I can recall blowing a tire on the 401 near Brighton late one night and calling Lyle to come help me. He got out of bed and came to assist without hesitation. It was in his DNA to help others whenever he could. In true Williams family fashion, Lyle was a master of making any short story long but they were always worth hearing. My sincere condolences to Brenda. You brought Lyle so much love and happiness for many years and you complemented each other perfectly. I’ll miss you Uncle Lyle and life will be less joyful without you but I will cherish the memories and times we spent together.

Dear Brenda and the Williams Family. I was shocked and saddened to learn that Lyle had died. He always seemed so full of life, right from the first time I met Lyle when we were kids in Colborne. He was funny, mischievous, enterprising and always there when you needed his help. Lyle was head of the class in that regard. Many, many people will miss his kindness and humour. Rest in peace, my old friend. Tom
