It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Larry Earl Miller, age 80, of Cobourg, Ontario, on November 11, 2025.
Born on February 20, 1945, Larry lived a full and hard-working life. He spent many years as a dedicated transport truck driver, travelling across the country and collecting countless stories he loved to share. He was known for his strong work ethic, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his easy sense of humour—always ready with a joke, a laugh, or some good-natured horsing around.
Larry’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Miller, and his children: Sherry Peters (Tim), and Larry “Ted” Miller (Joanne). He was a cherished grandfather to Shonna, Sharley, Lucas, and Ashley, and is reunited in heaven with his grandson Joshua. Larry also held a special bond with his late nephew, Joseph Smith, who was like a grandson to him.
He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom he loved dearly — especially his sister-in-law Isabelle Smith and his good friend Sharon Lunan, who made sure his later years were full of laughter, company, and just the right amount of trouble. Larry was a father-figure to many of them, always offering guidance, support, and a reliable ride around town—his “taxi service” was known by everyone who needed it.
Larry is survived by his siblings Patsy Clark; Gladys Wittred (David); and Ronnie Miller (Sandra). He is predeceased by siblings Robert Miller, Shirley Brown, Gloria O’Connell, Lorraine Miller DeLong, Glenis Young and by his parents Robert (Bob) and Selma Miller.
Outside of work and family, Larry loved hunting, race car culture, and spent time driving and working in the pits. He enjoyed travelling through his trucking career and sharing stories from the road. His humour, generosity, and huge heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
Honouring his wishes, Larry will be cremated, and there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life will be held November 29, 2025 at the Port Hope Lions Centre,
29 Thomas St. Port Hope, ON. L1A 3W3, 1pm to 4pm, where family and friends can gather to remember and share stories of the man who touched so many lives.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
Condolences to the family
