Gudrun Ludorf-Weaver, age 79, of Cobourg, Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2025, after a 10.5 month fight against Cancer.
Born in Heidelberg, Germany, to E. Peter and Gudrun E. Ludorf, she immigrated to Canada in 1951 with her parents and her younger brother, Peter. Her family eventually settled in Toronto, where she grew up, studied, worked, and raised her children.
Gudrun graduated from the University of Toronto with an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a Master of Education. She taught Elementary and Middle School for over 30 years in the Toronto District School Board, eventually pursuing principalship qualifications. Gudrun touched the lives of many students and their families throughout her career.
Music was one of Gudrun’s great joys. She was a talented pianist and sang in many choirs throughout her lifetime. She also involved herself in community organizations, most notably Sustainable Cobourg, which she chaired for 14 years. She was devoted to promoting environmental stewardship and creating a more sustainable future for her community.
Gudrun was preceded in death by her parents (E.Peter and Gudrun E. Ludorf), aunt (Inge Leisterer), brother (Peter Ludorf), and sister-in-law (Christine Ludorf), all of whom she missed terribly.
She is survived by her ex-husband, Allan Weaver, and their children, Christopher (Callaway Scott), Jennifer (David Mayes), and Allison (Jennifer Vaughn), and grandchildren Oliver, James, Isabelle, Penelope, Cassidy, and Alexander. Gudrun will be remembered not only by her family, but also by her friends and community.
Gudrun will be interred in a private family event at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. A celebration of life will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East in Cobourg on November 16th, 2025 from 1:00-4:00pm. Words of remembrance being shared at 2:00pm
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, which provided invaluable support in her final days.
Jennifer, Christopher, Allison and Family, We are so sorry for your loss. We were fortunate to have your Mom, Madame Weaver for an LTO when our Children were in Senior Kindergarten French Immersion at Rawlinson in 2002. She was truly a seasoned teacher with an energetic and caring personality. I got to know her well and had nice chats with her and used to drive her home on occasion. She took pride in her home on Roseneath. She also loved her choir and spoke fondly of her involvement. Im so happy that she enjoyed her other chapters in Cobourg and her involvement in her community there. She will be missed greatly by all.
My condolences to you and your family. I will always remember the great times i had visiting her and the years she spent teaching me in school. May she rest in peace. <3

I am deeply sadden by the loss of Gudrun “Gigi” Ludorf-Weaver. I feel so blessed to have known her, graced by her big heart and kind personality. I think of her unwavering devotion to her family, her craft, her friends, her community. She was not only the face of Sustainable Cobourg, she embodied Sustainability and Environmental issues. I am proud to say she left this world better than she found it. She loved humming birds, this bird can also fly backwards and upside down. Reflecting on why she loved them so much - “She place no limits on what can be accomplished” To the family – Wishing you peace to bring comfort, and loving memories to hold you dear in your hearts
I will never forget Gudrun’s kindness and empathy towards me as a teenager, she helped me when I needed stability and guidance. My sincere condolences to Jennifer, Allison, Christopher and all who were loved by and loved Gudrun.

Deepest condolences to all Gigi's family on this very sad occasion. I knew Gudrun through 5 years of high school at North Toronto Collegiate in Toronto, and met her again through several reunion lunches. Such a smiling, warmhearted woman, giving so much of herself, especially here in Cobourg. When I moved here 7 years ago, she invited me to her home for coffee and we had a lovely visit. I saw her at several events and she deservedly won a civic award for all she did for Cobourg. My deep regret is that after a couple of months ago, we agreed to meet for coffee again, and it didn't happen. I often drive past her house and I will always remember her fondly. Rest in peace Gudrun.
Gigi was a leader, a dynamo and an inspiration to so many in our community. We remember and are grateful for Gigi's years of advocacy, energy, and expertise in an array of sustainability and environmental protections. Gigi's legacy will live on in the work we do, especially for future generations.

Surprised and saddened to hear of Gigi’s passing. I enjoyed singing with her and working on the board of Sustainable Cobourg. Such a beautiful person. I admired her commitment, tenacity and leadership advocating for the environment and a community that supports health and welfare for all now and in the future. She was a treasure and will be sorely missed,

Gigi - An inspiring Environmental, Sustainability, Climate & Cobourg Leader & Warrior; the heart of 'Sustainable Cobourg'. We will always miss her & her passion! Condolences to family & friends.
Gigi was the lifebloood of Sustainable Cobourg and a vibrant person I had the honour to know. She was bright, articulate, funny and always outgoing and active. She enlivened Cobourg since she first moved here. I met her at Town's Volunteer Awards ceremony where we were standing together and we ended up going out for a glass of wine afterwards. I had only arrived recently too.[Years later I nominatd her for the Town's Environmental Award] She will be missed and remembered fondly throughout the environmental community. Rest in peace, Gigi. We miss you! My condolences to her children.
Our sincerest and deep felt condolences to Christopher, Jennifer, Allison and all your family. Words fail me. Gudrun and I shared the same country of birth and we had many conversations in German. She was an intelligent and well read, and working with her on Sustainable Cobourg, as well as the Environmental Committee, we had a lot of things in common. May your many wonderful memories guide you through this grieving time, and know that your mom was loved and cherished.
