Paul passed away on September 23, 2025, surrounded by his family after a brave fight against cancer. Paul survived his wife Jill who passed away in 2024 after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his children David (Claire), Kevin (Edie), and Carey (Jeff), along with his grandchildren Brooke (Eddie), Dylan (Tara), Taylor, Jakob (Joleen), Mackenzie (Bobby), Megan (Brad), Madison, and Jessie (Aidan), as well as his great-grandchildren Kensington and Charles. Paul was also very close to his brother-in-law Kerrie (Sophie) and sister-in-law Kim (Peter).
Paul was one of six boys born in Toronto to Ione and Alf Anderson, including Skip, Barry, Ron, Michael and Mark. Many summers were spent near a farm in Belleville which brought such fond memories to Paul. Moving from the city to the country, learning animal husbandry, bringing in the hay and doing general farm labour always held a special place and a desire to move back to the country. Paul and his wife Jill bought a vineyard in Jordan, Ontario in their 50’s and then a tree farm in Loretto, and most recently, a country property in Gores Landing. No one was happier than Paul riding around his properties on his John Deere tractor!
Paul spent most of his working life at the Toronto Transit Commission where he worked from the entry level up. Paul was always willing to work any overtime that came his way so that he could support his children’s recreation and sport activities. Paul was ever the present father at games, musicals and plays. Paydays on Thursdays were extra memorable and often included trips to Hunts Bakery for eclairs and then to the Hitching Post on Queen Street for hamburgers for a family picnic at Ashbridges Bay on Lake Ontario.
Paul passed with such pride and love for his family – with little energy left, Paul rallied at a gathering to say goodbye to each of his family members and close friends with a hug and an “I love you”.
Many thanks are extended to the medical team at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Dr. Mulé, the Medicine Shoppe/Cobourg, and Ed’s House. Paul always felt well cared for.
