Suzanne Marcel De Sadeleer

January 6, 1947 - September 4, 2025

Miss me, but let me go…
On September 4th, a warm and sunny September morning, Susan DeSadeleer (nee Tessier-Jenkins), 78, of Cobourg, Ontario, began her next great journey to rejoin her beloved mother Rose, father Rudy, and sisters Diane, Gloria, and Debbie.
Known fondly as Susan, Mom, Aunt Sue, or Nana, she had a remarkable gift for making everyone in her presence feel her love—freely given, abundant, and unwavering.
Born in Ottawa and raised in Cobourg, Susan went on to marry and welcome her only son, Dean Jenkins. Throughout her life, she embraced many careers with passion and skill: dental assistant, service representative for Bell Canada, entrepreneur and owner of I Do, I Do bridal boutique in Toronto, and later, partner in life and work with her loving husband, Luke DeSadeleer, at their family counselling practice in Ottawa.
Upon retirement, Susan and Luke returned to Cobourg to be close to their cherished grandchildren—Sarah, Emily, and Mackenzie Jenkins. As “Nana,” she offered sage advice, boundless humour, and her loyal presence at every important milestone.
She and Luke traveled and cruised extensively, delighting in the great wonders of the world. From these adventures, she passed on her deep love of exploration to her granddaughters, encouraging them to see the beauty and possibility in every corner of the globe. Beyond their travels, she also shared with them her joy of city living—introducing them to the excitement of live theatre, the pleasures of shopping, and the vibrancy of urban life.
Susan will be remembered for her natural beauty, impeccable taste, and elegant sense of style. Whether wrapping a gift with precision or setting a table with perfect detail, she showed those around her the joy of creating beauty in life’s simple moments.
Susan’s life will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Donna Tessier (Ottawa); her many nieces, nephews, and cousins; her travel companion and cousin, Jimmy Zito (Ottawa); and her daughter-in-law, June MacDonald-Jenkins (Nova Scotia).
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Northumberland Hills Hospital and the Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic. Your kindness, grace, and devotion truly reflected the work of angels. Special thanks to Dr. Mule’ of the Palliative Care team for ensuring her final moments were just as she wished—surrounded by joy, laughter, and peace.
In lieu of flowers, Susan has requested that donations be made to the NHH Cancer and Supportive Care Clinic in her memory. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date in the spring of 2026 in Ottawa at her request.
