Michael Harold Cassidy

January 23, 1959 - August 15, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Harold Cassidy on August 15th, 2025, at the age of 66. He was a dedicated husband, father, papa, brother, son and friend, who always had a story to tell and laughter to share.

Together, Mike and his wife Kelly Ann Cassidy (Cosway) built 40 years of love and companionship. Side by side, they loved and nurtured their children Matthew (Lindsey), Benjamin (Chantelle) and Megan, guiding them on their path to becoming the kind and caring adults they are today. Mike was proud of his children, often sharing stories of their adventures with others. He leaves behind his love imprinted on his granddaughter Violet and his gifted grandchildren Everett, Sullivan, Lennon and Mara.

Mike was the loving son of the late Harold and Penny (Georgina) Cassidy and sibling to Beverly, Carol, Leona, Patrick and Danny. He was a caring son-in-law of the late William and Jean Cosway, and brother-in-law to Laura, Steven and Jim. Mike will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mike grew up in Smiths Falls Ontario where his love for music, fast cars, hunting, and hanging out with great friends began. He later moved to the big city, meeting his cherished wife Kelly, while working at Dominion Stores. Together they raised their children in the Cobourg area while having the privilege of loving and supporting the young lives of others.
Mike dedicated himself to his career at Cobourg Foodland as a produce manager, where his colleagues became his lifelong friends. Foodland was a place where he could share laughter and stories with people that he cared about, which continued long after his retirement.

Mike’s legacy is one of love and strength with a side of sharp wit. From a young age and throughout his life, he did all he could to remain strong for his family, meeting each challenge with courageous strength and perseverance until his final moments. He successfully beat many odds over his lifetime, and we are grateful, blessed and honoured to have shared in this journey with him.

Family and friends will be received at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, Ontario (905)-372-5132 on Friday August 22nd from 3pm to 5pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 5pm with reception to follow.
In honour of Michael and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Peterborough Regional Hospital (PRHC) in-center hemodialysis unit. Donations can be made through MacCoubrey Funeral Home.

My condolences to Kelly, Megan and family. Mike was one of the funniest people I've known and the best person I've worked for. His stories were legendary and his sense of humour cheeky. His love for his family was huge as was how proud he was of them. Nothing made him happier than when one of the boys would pop into see him and even more so when Violet was there as well. Mike was my boss in the produce department at Cobourg Foodland. Mike could be hard on you (me) at times .... only because he cared so much about the excellent presentation of our department. Mike and I bonded over mutual love of music. Mike always seemed to know a bit about everything. Definitely had lots of stories to tell. Mike was extremely kind to me as he was forever giving me rides to my other job, after finishing for the day at Foodland. When Mike was unable to work, we would go on Wednesday mornings about once a month for breakfast. I considered Mike a friend and I will miss him very much. My sincere Condolences to the Cassidy family.

Greg Perry - August 17, 2025

My wife Rhonda and I send our heartfelt condolences to all of Mike’s family. I enjoyed hearing many of his great stories and sharing a lot of laughs with him while working at Foodland.
