Beatrice "Bea" Ann Mutton (nee Hutchinson)

June 30, 1949 - August 7, 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Beatrice Ann Mutton announces her sudden passing on August 7th, 2025.
Bea will be dearly missed by her sons Richard (Erika) and Jeffrey and grandchildren Gabrielle, Erynn, Ruby, Violet, Arlo, Keeva, and Niamh.
Bea will be lovingly remembered and missed by her siblings Connie McMahon (Charles), Stephen (Debbie), John (Susan), Therese (Peter Cobrin), Sandra Ruckstuhl (Dan), Peter, Matthew (Kim), and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Bea was predeceased by her parents, James Patrick and Lucy Ann Hutchinson and brothers Baby John, Fredrick, and Bruce Hutchinson.
Born in Trenton, Ontario Bea was the oldest of eleven children. Named after her aunt Bea, the family called her Babe. After high school Bea married and moved to Colborne, Ontario where she quickly became a large part of her community. She was a business owner, a seamstress who made wedding gowns and prom dresses, and a member of the Colborne Rotary Club. She helped organize community events such as Apple Blossom Tyme and Ladies Night. She volunteered with the weekly free lunch at Prospect House. She had many friends and was always quick to lend a hand when needed. Bea had a beautifully classic sense of style and a keen eye for the vintage aesthetic. She was intensely creative, enjoying sewing, sketching, and gardening. Bea was adventurous and loved to travel. She often planned adventures for her grandchildren.
There is more that could be said about Bea than will ever fit in anything written. She lived her life her way. Strong, independent, seeing the beauty in everything. She loved her family dearly. She had a kind heart. Her absence will leave a significant gap in the lives of her family, friends, and community.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday August 15th, 2025 at 11:00am at Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church, 40 Centre St, Brighton, Ontario, followed by a luncheon at 1:00pm at Prospect House, 75 King St, Colborne, Ontario.
Bea adored her dachshunds Sophie and Lennon. Donations can be made in her name to Canadian Dachshund Rescue Ontario.

Mary Norton, Cramahe Library - August 13, 2025

Our deepest condolences to Bea's family. Bea was an amazing and selfless volunteer and was always ready to drop everything to help. In September of last year I suddenly needed an "original" signature representing the Colborne Rotary Club in a support letter for the library and I needed it within the hour as I had a deadline - I sent out an SOS and Bea appeared out of nowhere and signed as President of Rotary that year. A tiny example of how selfless she was with her time. Bea is a true example of what it means to be there for your community. On behalf of the library we are very grateful for your service Bea, may you rest in peace.

So sad to hear. Bea was a huge part of our community events and was on hand for everything. I first met Bea many years ago at a school event at South Cramahe Public School. She was wearing a beautiful wide brimmed hat that night. Bea you will be remembered with smiles for so many. Rest peacefully in paradise

Jane Urquhart - August 11, 2025

I was shocked, and so sorry, to hear that Bea had died. Bea was an amazing person; lively, creative, and intelligent in conversation, and practical, calm, and caring in a crisis. She looked after celebrated WW2 pilot, Vi Milstead Warren, for many years, always as a trusted friend, and as a very, very compassionate caregiver towards the end. She also was a kind companion to my husband, artist Tony Urquhart. As he declined, she often took him out on the rural roads in her car. Then, when he saw something he wanted to draw, Bea would park her car, and pull out her knitting, while he rendered the landscape. He was very fond of her, and felt understood by her. As did we all. Bea will be deeply missed by the community she served so generously. A truly gracious person, her loss will be felt all over Cramahe Township — and well beyond. Her many, many kindnesses will never be forgotten.

Betty Oliver & family - August 11, 2025
