Born on September 4, 1953, in Cobourg Ontario. Bob worked at General Motors for 35 years and he always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout his life Bob built and sold numerous homes taking much pride in being “Bob the builder”. During his retirement Bob enjoyed traveling, going to dances with friends and family BBQs. Bob was a dedicated and passionate Blue Jays fan rarely missing a game and always providing a post game commentary.
Bob was pre-deceased by his father Ralph Hackney, mother Shirley Hackney, brothers Tom and George Hackney and triplet daughters Kelly, Kathy and Karla Hackney. Bob leaves behind the mother of his children Dianne Hackney, his three children Melissa Hackney, Teri Minifie (Jason), and Brandon Hackney (Stephanie), his six grandchildren Jordyn Minifie (Cameron), Jayden Minifie, Justin Hackney, Josh Robicheau, Dylan Robicheau and Nodia Stodart as well as his brother Richard “Rick” Hackney, and sisters Bonnie Dainard, Carolyn Harper and Judy Rahme. He also leaves behind his dog Marley.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers who supported Bob during his health journey. The Queen’s Family Health Team in Belleville and the incredible team at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in Cobourg for their compassionate care.
Visitation will take place at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Wednesday July 16th, from 11 until 12 noon. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16th, at 12 noon with interment to follow at the Heritage Cemetery of St. Peter followed by a reception in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre in Bob’s memory.
