John Walter Sherman

May 2, 1934 - May 12, 2025

Born to Laura and Robert Sherman in Hawksbury, Ontario, John passed away peacefully on Monday May 12, 2025 at Ed’s House Hospice, in Cobourg. Loved by his family, John is survived by his wife Helen van Poorten, his step-children Kristie Verrette (Jeff) and Sean Davies, and his grandchildren Ethan, Jack, Austin and Oliver. John loved to travel with Helen in their RV and was known to be able to build most things and fix just about anything (except for the damn red truck in their driveway!). John will be missed and remembered with love as husband, father and Opa. In lieu of a service we have decided to celebrate John’s life with immediate family only. In John’s memory, donations can be made to Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care, where John was looked after with such incredible care and kindness by the staff there in his last few weeks.
