We are very sorry to hear of Sue's passing, she was a very kind and caring person. Her devotion and countless hours towards Northumberland Agriculture and more so to Northumberland Cattlemans Association will not be forgotten.Sue could endure many a meeting with all the elected directors happily conversating about all things except what was on the agenda to discuss at that particular meeting. When the evening was over Sue would have every T crossed and I dotted and kept all involved in order. Sue and Jerry together made a lasting impression towards cattle farming for Northumberland County. It was a great privilege knowing and serving with both Sue and Jerry.

I would like to offer my condolences to Sue’s family and friends on this loss. Wishing you much strength. I am the daughter of Otto Gaastra (and Wimmie). My father was a cousin of Sue. Through Facebook, I was sometimes in contact with Sue. She always responded so kindly and showed interest in my life in the Netherlands, even though we never met in person. A loving and warm woman. Warm regards, Marian de Jong-Gaastra

« Sue, Louise and I met at Westpark Health Care Center in June 2019. We soon bonded and became the 3 Amigos as Sue called us. We stayed in touch often and visited her when we could. She was a great mentor and friend who will sadly be missed and will always be remembered. My sincere condolences to the family

Mandy Martin - May 12, 2025

Sue was an ever-positive, loving and lovely woman. She was one of the first people to drop by the Colborne Chronicle office 30 years ago to welcome me. That was Sue: she made a point of reaching out to people, in kindness and support. Also a great sense of humour! She was a real powerhouse for the Cattlemen’s Association, much appreciated. For the family, what a legacy you have inherited! Thank you, Sue, for your friendship.
