Susan Ellen Hopkins

April 30, 1948 - April 30, 2025

Susan passed away, peacefully, during the early hours of May 1st, after happily celebrating her 77th birthday the day before. The family thanks the Doctors, Nurses and staff of ward 2A of Northumberland Hospital.
Predeceased by her parents Derek Hopkins, Kathleen Hughes and sister Lisa Jane Hopkins.
Susan spent her life living with the challenges caused by undiagnosed childhood celiac disease. She was one of the first diagnosed with this autoimmune disease which stunted both her physical and mental growth. Her whole life was marred by the bullying and prejudice that comes with being perceived as different.
She spent many hours, in her younger years, sewing and knitting toys and doll clothes that were cherished by many. She assisted her parents in their later years to remain independent and in their own home. With the help of her sister, Debbie, Susan lived, happily, with her cats in her own apartment for almost 20 years. She easily made friends, who say that they enjoyed her chats and warm spontaneous hugs.
Susan will be, greatly, missed by her sisters Judith Anne (Brian) and Deborah Leslie (Michael); her nephews Aaron Robinson, Peter Robinson, Matthew DaMario and Russell Stoker. Many extended family have provided remembrances.

A private family memorial will take place. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
