It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donald (Army) Armstrong announce his passing at the Belleville General Hospital Thursday on April 24, 2025 in his 83 year. Don was surrounded by his family when he passed. He is the deeply loved husband of Nancy (nee Rowe) Armstrong and they were married for 62 years . A loving dad to Dwayne (Kim Irvine) and Debbie (Wayne McComb) Armstrong. He was the exceptionally proud grandfather of Dawn (Sarah MacKay), Amanda (Bugsy Delesalle) and Kyleah(Matt Pye). He was the great grandfather of Hatcher, Alder, Gryffin, Grayson and the late Blakely. He will be missed by his fur grandchild Blake. He was the loved brother of Bev Reilly, the late Bill Armstrong, his twin sister Doris Gibson and David Armstrong. He was the loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Don was a man of immense humor and loved being a jokester. Don worked at General Motors for 33.2 years and was proud of this accomplishment. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Don’s favorite moments were spent in the outdoors with his family and friends, and he cherished this time. He loved to tell stories about all his fishing and hunting adventures. Don was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and was the self-appointed Mayor of his community. Don was a talented woodworker and donated a lot of his woodworking to charity and local businesses. Don was the biggest Toronto Maple Leafs fan and when they win the Stanley Cup this year, we will know who helped this happen.
Don was a proud member of the Brighton Lion’s Club. He received the following awards: for outstanding achievement and contribution to Lionism (Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship award), for dedicated humanitarian services Lions Clubs International foundation (Melvin Jones fellow award), Lion of the year in 2002-2003 and again in 2014-2015. Don loved volunteering with his fellow Lions whether it was at the Bingo hall or running the fryer. He made a lot of special friendships when he was a Lion.
Dad (Don) we love you more than words can ever express. Your kindness, generosity and love for your family and friends will forever remain in our hearts.
As per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association.

Such a wonderful and giving volunteer with the Lion's Club. He made a positive impact on a lot of people over the years. He will be sorely missed. Cherish the many memories you made together.
