Theresa Rose True

It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, wife, sister, friend, Theresa Rose True at 76 years of age on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg.

Theresa was a beautiful and generous soul who loved her family and friends fiercely, enjoyed shopping and collecting antiques more than one person should, and looked forward to hosting a party anytime! She didn’t only spoil her family and friends; she also spoiled her dogs. She taught us all how to be better by her example of love, generosity and strength.

Theresa was the beloved wife of Jack Scanlan who never left her side as she struggled fiercely, and the loving mother of Lisa True. She loved her son-in-law François Colas as her own son. Theresa was the cherished daughter of the late Solomon Dufresne and the late Ernestine (nee Gervais) and the loving sister of Marcel (Pauline) Dufresne, the late Jill Dufresne, the late Sally (the late Ron) Jolicoeur, Jackie (Larry) Findlay and Pauline (Brent) Langille. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and dogs, Good Boy and Brody. Theresa also touched the lives of many, including close friends and caregivers who helped and visited in the last few months.
