Suzanne Marie Gibb

September 13, 1954 - April 19, 2025

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love”. Mother Teresa

It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Suzanne Gibb, at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 70 years of age. Daughter of the late Peter Gibb and Mildred Gibb (nee Mills). Dear sister of Frank, Mary, Rita Watters (Greg), Peter, Kathy Morgan (Geoff), Martin, Elizabeth, David (Renee), and predeceased by her sisters Evelyn and Margaret Millar (Al). Cherished aunt to twenty-one nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews. Also missed by her extended family and friends.
Suzanne was a life-long learner, and was born to teach, leading the way establishing best practices and strategies for schools, school Boards and the Ministry of Education. She wrote and published her own set of curriculum books.
Throughout Suzanne’s almost 30-year teaching career she touched many lives, her classroom was alive with creativity and innovative learning. Suzanne was a voracious reader with often two or three books on the go. She loved a good murder mystery, British television and legal crime series. Suzanne’s hobbies included knitting, gardening, and quilting and journaling.
Suzanne was a generous friend to those around her and along with the many charities she supported she volunteered at the Cobourg Food Bank, The Blue Box and gave to those in need, always.
Suzanne held a special place in her heart and home for her furry friends. She filled her home with pictures of the 21 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews that were her world. She loved all of them so deeply and took every opportunity to show her pride and love for them.
Sports, especially hockey were always a big part of who Suzanne was, she was Captain of her McMaster University team and affectionately known as “Koho” (her favorite hockey stick). She was fiercely competitive and excelled in all sports but especially basketball, hockey, baseball and being the biggest cheerleader for her family’s accomplishments. Suzanne will be sorely missed.
Suzanne would want to be remembered as a giver and in her honour would ask that we “Pay it Forward”.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation can do so to World Vision, Terry Fox Foundation or SickKids Foundation.
In keeping with her environmental concerns and wishes there will be Aquamation with a Celebration of Life to be held at the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Sunday, May 18th, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm. Please use the east parking lot Reception Hall entrance.
