Lieutenant, Canadian Women’s Army Corps, 1952 (retired); Registered Nurse, University of Toronto (Sick Kids Hospital) class of 1949; most of her career was at the Cobourg Hospital (retired); Wife and Mother (extremely retired).
Daughter of Archibald and Marjorie MacIver (nee Belford) of Cobourg,
predeceased by husband Frank of Cobourg and sister Marjorie Jones (Chuck, deceased) of Geraldton; mother of Phelan (Bracebridge), Frances (Jim) of Midland, Brennan (Michele) of Hastings, and Norman of Kincardine.
Grandmother to Katherine (D’Arcy) of Bowmanville, Michael of Alliston,
Jason of Midland, Joshua of Toronto, T.J. of Collingwood, and
Genevieve of Hamilton. Great Grandmother of Bruce, Vanessa, and Benjamin.
Shirley will be missed by her many nieces and nephews on the Scanlon and Jones sides; because of her advanced years, Shirley was predeceased by many of her Codrington and Cobourg area
cousins, her Northern and Cobourg friends, relatives and acquaintances, yet….there are some left. Although she lived in Toronto, Hamilton, Geraldton, Thunder Bay, London England, Codrington, Kincardine and Midland, Shirley was a Cobourg girl at heart.
Visitation with Shirley’s family will be held on Friday, June 20th, 2025 from 4 to 7pm at MacCoubrey Funeral Home in Cobourg.
An Anglican Burial Office will be held to celebrate her life and commend her to The Resurrection on June 21st, 2025, at 11:00am at the Parish of St. George in Hastings.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Huronia or the Parish of St. George, Hastings, would be appreciated.
