James Andrew (Jamie) Gordon, 64 years old, owner of James W. Gordon Insurance, passed at Northumberland Hills Hospital on March 21, 2025. For 2 short months, he fought a tremendously aggressive cancer.
Devastated, he leaves his wife Kim (Novinka), sons Alex and Connor. Younger brother to Mark (Kathy) and Laura McCracken-Ebbrell (John). Brother-in-law of Bob (Nancy) and Nancy (Mike Cussen). Adored son-in-law of Dorothy Novinka. Fondly remembered by 12 nieces and nephews, and 12 great-nieces and nephews. Shocked and saddened, he leaves countless friends, colleagues, clients, Rotarians and community members. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Brian McCracken (’08), father-in-law Ed Novinka (’17), his mother Ruth (’20) and his father Jim (’21).
Jamie was born in London, Ontario and grew up in Cobourg. He proudly graduated from Queens University (’83) with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Bleak job prospects in his field led him to undertake a job at the family business, Gordon Insurance. Jamie marked his 40th year as an insurance broker in ‘24. He was a Past President of both the Kinsmen Club of Cobourg and the Rotary Club of Cobourg. Club members enjoyed his quirkiness and quick-witted humour. He took on and participated in many club positions and social events with enthusiasm. Jamie was a longtime member of Dalewood Golf Club where he could be heard laughing with his usual foursome. For more than 30 years he enjoyed a weekly game of volleyball. Jamie served as the Chairperson of the Discipline Committee for RIBO.
His favorite pastime was sitting in the cabana by the pool with Barney.
Special thanks to Emma, Mark, and Scott. You somehow made the last 2 months less difficult.
A celebration of life will take place on Sunday May 4th at Dalewood Golf Club, 7465 Dale Rd, Cobourg from 1-4 pm. Remarks at 2pm. If desired, donations may be made to Canadian Sarcoma Research, www.cansarcc.ca or to a charity of your choice.

So sorry to hear of Jamie's passing. He will be truly missed by the number of many people he touched in Cobourg.
Such a loss the family has experienced with the passing of Jaimie: a loss that is felt deeply by many and resounds throughout the community. Our sympathies and hugs of suppport go out to Kim, Alex and Connor, and Jaimie's siblings Laura and Mark, and the extended families. Jaimie had a great sense of humour, laughed alot and was always friendly - his personable relationships with people and his leadership in the community were amongst his many positive attributes that we will all miss.
We were shocked and saddened to learn of Jamie's passing. Jamie was a student in Ted's Physics classes during Ted's first few years at Cobourg East and the youthful enthusiasm he showed then never really waned throughout his life. It was also a comfort to do business with him, given our background together and given his strength of character and commitment to public service. We are unable to attend the celebration of life on May 4, but please accept our heartfelt condolences.

Condolence's to all
Gordon Insurance has been our competent Insurance Broker for the past 39 years and Jamie was a delight to speak with on any occasion. As a fellow Rotarian, I will certainly miss his warm and caring personality. Jamie could enlighten the room especially when the Rotary President would ask the question, "What would Past -President Jamie do in this particular circumstance" -which always added laughter to our meetings, as well as some fines for our members. I will also miss him at our upcoming Waterfront Festival and Ribfest Festival as he was a always an eager participant and added to the richness of the day. I also know that the Gordon family enriched our Cobourg and Northumberland community for the better. To Kim, Alex, Connor and extended family members are thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My deepest condolences to your family. I knew Jamie for a very long time when my mother in law worked with him. May Jamie RIP.

My thoughts go out to all of his family, and his friends and Rotarians, colleagues, who are all Jamie’s extended family. One of the kindest, most generous of spirit and always asked “what can I / we do?”. A true leader, great insurance broker, someone with a wicked sense of humour, an easy smile and “that guy” who lead the charge in times of need, or, more so, in times of jovial relief. He has left a great legacy, and in no one more than his family, who he spoke about, and was the proudest of all you do.
