Sarah Martin Andrew Cherry

May 1, 1944 - March 22, 2025

Sarah “Morag” Cherry, 80 years old, of Cobourg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 22, 2025 at Northumberland Hills Hospital.

Sarah was born on May 1, 1944 in Airdrie, Scotland. She was the eldest of 5 sisters (Jean Cane, Mary Cahill (predeceased), Elizabeth Cassels, Janet Stark (predeceased).

Sarah was very bright in school and went on to work for an electronics company called The Pye where she made circuit boards for the military. She met and married the man of her dreams Ross Cherry. Sarah gave birth to Moira, then they decided to move to Canada from Scotland in 1969. Sarah had a successful career working for the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transportation. After 30 years she retired and enjoyed travelling, reading, and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed church, serving in her faith and spending time with Ross.

Sarah was a proud grandmother to Kyla and Steven, and was delighted to be an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sarah and Ross were married for 61 years until Ross’s passing on September 2, 2022. After a short battle with Myeloma Cancer, Sarah passed peacefully.

A Funeral Service will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King St. E. in Cobourg on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Cobourg Union Cemetery.

Sarah will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Those wishing may make a memorial donation to a charity of choice.

Aunt Morag you will be sorely missed. You were such a lovely lady. I’ve been so lucky to have an aunt like you. You could brighten up any room with your infectious smile. You had a special relationship with mum, and she will miss you dearly. Our thoughts are of you being by uncle Ross’s side once again, and this helps with our grief. God bless my aunt and take her into your care. ❤️ David.
