Peacefully at 94 years old, in the Northumberland Hills Hospital. Mary is survived by her beloved twin brother David, her sister-in-law Carole and her niece Melanie, as well as numerous relatives and dear friends.
Mary was born in Toronto where she attended Leaside High School, and later went on to complete graduate work at Western University. Mary became a high school teacher with the Toronto District School Board, and taught at Wexford Collegiate in Scarborough for her entire career.
When she retired, she moved to Cobourg with her mother, where they found a welcoming community and deep and lasting friendships. Mary especially cherished her book club and the congregation at St. Peter’s Church.
A Celebration of Life Gathering at MacCoubrey Funeral Home (30 King St E, Cobourg) will be held on Tuesday April 8 from 1-3PM, and an interment of cremated remains at Mount Lawn Cemetery in Whitby at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary’s memory to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation or the Northumberland Humane Society.
My condolences to Mary's family and close friends. I met Mary though CFUW-Northumberland and enjoyed many conversations, especially during our lunching out meetings. She was a delight to be around. A donation has been made in Mary's memory to the CFUW-N scholarship trust
Dear Family of Mary, I got to know Mary by our sharing at Thursday Communion services over the last 7 or 8 years and enjoyed her company very much. We can think of Mary being on her greatest adventure; having met and experienced her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the Holiest of communions! Her legacy through teaching and participating in this community demonstrated a life well lived.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mary Edwards. When Mary was able to attend CFUWN functions, she entertained us with her wit and wry sense of humour. A donation will be made to the Club in her memory.
