Passed away peacefully in his 90th year, on Thursday March 6, 2025 at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice with family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Shirley (nee Tapscott). Loving father of Wayne Cunningham (Norma), Kim Baxter (Dennis), Karen Cunningham (Tim) and Susan Blue (Christian). Proud grandfather of Douglas Bott-Baxter (Cassie), Kathleen Baxter, Grace Reinhart (Connor), Joshua Baxter, Calahan Cunningham (Samantha), Devon Warner (Jenna), Faith Warner (Shaun), Owen Blue (Sarah), Noah Blue (Elizabeth), and great grandfather of Victor, Paisley, Jackson, Jasper, Charlotte and Naomi. Brother of Beverly Johns (the late Harold), Norah Cunningham and Robert James (the late Jean). Remembered by his many nieces and nephews and their families. A visitation will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home 30 King St. E., Cobourg on Sunday March 16, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A service will be held in the chapel on Monday March 17, 2025 at 11 am. A reception will follow the service. Donations may be made to Sleeping Children (a donation of one bed kit is $40), Rural Faith United Church or Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice.

I will always remember Doug for his gentle manner. Enjoyed listening to him speak of his travels helping those less fortunate in distant lands with his sleeping kits for kids. I am sure he was an inspiration to many. Please accept my condolences at this time.
