Christine, Jenna, and Steven, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Rick was truly one of a kind. I have so many fond memories from our time at your cottage. Rick’s energetic and hilarious personality was always a bright light. He was constantly up for any type of water sport, taking us tubing or water skiing whenever we asked. He saved me more times than I can count, whether it was from almost drowning on a knee board, being locked in an outhouse, or from “rats”. His love of song lyrics and movie quotes, specifically The Great Outdoors and Top Gun, will always remind me of him. Rest in peace, Rick. Thanks for the great memories!! Katie Montgomery
I'm sorry for your loss , Dr. Simon was our family dentist for many years

We so enjoyed our many Friday mornings of golf with Rick. His sense of humour and joyful attitude always added to the round. In euchre games and potluck dinners, Rick’s laugh and friendship will be missed.
Dear Chris and family, Our sincere condolences. We will miss Rick's wonderful humour and generosity of spirit and warmth that he shared with all. You are in our thoughts.
It was a privilege to have been Rick's friend for over 45 years. He lived life to the fullest and made the most of every day. There are so many great memories, walking together to dental school, times at the cottage, and windsurfing trips to Hatteras. We always looked forward to reconnecting every summer. Enjoying a beer on the dock, golfing, and our euchre group. With his sincere friendship and funny and engaging nature it was always good times with Rick. We extend our sincere condolences to Chris and the family. We've lost a wonderful person who will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Thanks for all the great memories Rick. Mu sincerely condolences to the family. As a fellow W. A. Porter classmate with a solid high school friendship with Rick, the years have passed quickly and the years to short to fulfill a lifetime for Rick. Memories of our friday evening curling matches and competition for school grades will be always cherished and remembered.

Our deepest condolences to all the family. After a long battle, he is finally free. His wit and friendship will never be forgotten. A great friend, father , husband and dad\granddad. Rest in peace Rick, you will be missed.
Rick was larger than life! He was intelligent, quick witted, full of fun as well as entertaining characteristic expressions, not to mention his songs or portions there of. He was always up for an adventure and you had better be as well! Most of our 50 years of memories centre around cottages, where Rick always seemed to feel most at home. In the early years, there were many adventures and misadventures at various friend’s cottages. In later years, we have cherished family memories of the Simon’s hospitality and too many water and dock escapades to recount. Christine, Jenna and Lee, Steven and Tori, we are so very sorry for your difficult loss. To quote and paraphrase a line from one of my favourite Carol King songs- “His life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue” We miss you Rick. Sue and Tim

Who livened up a room, gave big tight hugs, loved Chris for her beauty and brains, loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally? Rick. Rick was always one step ahead on any walk, two steps ahead on a joke, three steps ahead offering libations and four questions ahead while he and Chris were in the process of redesigning their home away from home on Jack Lake. We admired how Rick always acknowledged Chris and her greater abilities at taking a task in hand. They were so evidently a loving team. To say Rick will be missed is such an understatement. His larger than life presence will live on in fun-filled memories. Robin Long & Trudy Lum
Chris,Jenna and Steven,I am so sad to hear of Rick’s death.I remember his warmth and optimism.Roger and I have fond memories of good times together, learning about fly fishing and tying flies- he was a master at this;and as always, lots of laughter.
I'm saddened to learn of the passing of my cousin Rick. A cousin, mentor in my youth, and a family member who always challenged me to be a better person. Many fond memories of our family times at the cottage on Lake Simcoe, our bus trips to get there, and the memories that last to this day. My sincere condolences to the family....it goes without saying that he will be missed, however I am forever grateful for the memories we had. May you all find peace in these difficult times.

He never wanted to be in the spotlight, but he could light up a room. He was a very private man, but he embraced everyone’s stories and remembered them. His youthful lifestyle often made him the biggest kid of all, but he was always the best of dads to Jenna & Steven, and numerous other kids who became part of the extended Simon family. He was a professional and admired dentist, who managed to make visits as stress free as he could. He was an enthusiastic learner, who embraced new challenges and fought to continue his youthful and energetic outlook on life. We will miss his smile, his inquisitive nature, his friendship and his never ending sense of fun. While he will be sadly missed, thoughts of Rick will always bring a smile.
Dr Simon was by far my Favorite Dentist for 25 years! Loved having him sing to me in the chair. Chris sending my condolences to you and your family. He always asked about my family and we would talk about you and the kids. He was very proud of his family. He will be missed. He will be truly missed.

So sad to hear of Dr. Simon's passing, and still so young. He was my childhood dentist. He was always so warm and kind. Sending love to his family.
So many great memories of my time working with Rick at 17 Queen St. His bubbly demeanor, easy going attitude and musical serenades made being at work a pleasure. Chris, Jenna and Steven sending you my heartfelt condolences.
Chris, Jenna, Steven and families. My heart is broken upon hearing of Rick's passing. Dentistry can be a tough career but for 15 years I had the pleasure of working with an amazing boss and friend. I have so many great memories. Lots of laughs, a few after work beers (liquid therapy), and lots of singing. Not me singing it was always and understanding Rick was a solo artist. Sending you all my love and heartfelt condolences. I will never forget him.
We are both shocked and saddened. We got to know Rick in 1998 when we moved to cobourg and his energy, humour, singing and shared love of water skiing made trips to the dentist fun and something to look forward to. He was also a great dentist. And his old boat whips still keep my boat safely away from my dock. What a great guy. He will be sorely missed.

We were so sorry to hear of Rick's death. During the time that Chris worked with Mike at the Cobourg Clinic we often found ourselves at functions together. Rick was always fun, always witty and his enthusiasm for the outdoors was infectious. He and Chris were great partners and both were very proud of their family. We sometimes met them when they picked up their little grand-daughters from school and they were obviously delighted with the little ones' company. Rick was our family dentist for a time.He was conscientious, caring and very easy to talk to. There was always music in his surgery and he would hum along loudly as he worked. He wanted to put his patients at ease and he succeeded. It is a shame that he couldn't have a much longer time to enjoy his retirement. Our deepest condolences to Chris and all the family.

Chris Jenna and Steven So sorry for your loss he was the best dentist around always singing making sure you were ok and also singing the praises of his family I will miss seeing him bounce down lakeshore with Chris when they were out walking He will truly be missed Jane and Wayne
Very sorry to hear about his passing. Still so young. He allowed me to do my 2week placement in Dentistry at his practice so many years ago which I really appreciated. I was able to continue elsewhere in the field and can say he was the only I ever witnessed sing through his procedures. That’s a true rarity in this business. It also seemed to help relax the patients and he seemed to have a pretty good voice I thought. My sincere condolences to the family. RIP.
We are so sorry for your family's loss. Having a cottage at Jack Lake not far from yours, we enjoyed watching Rick take his sons out wakeboarding. We talked to him about our grandson loving to wakeboard and Rick was kind enough to take him out with his wakeboard boat, a highlight for my grandson. We will miss seeing and waving to you on the dock as we boat by. He will be missed on the lake.
The singing Dentist, who treated all of his patients with the utmost care. He was full of humour and his energy was contagious when he walked into the room. He was just one great man all around. My heart aches for his family. Thinking of all of you during this time of sadness.

We are so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. Our children were in the same class at Merwin Greer and Rick was our family’s’ dentist when we arrived in Cobourg in 1987 until his retirement. So very sorry for your loss. I too was at your cottage such a long, long time ago so I saw first hand what that cottage meant to him. And then there was his love of windsurfing! My thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the support of your family and close friends.
This loss will be felt deeply by all. I have many very fond memories of vacations and visits with the Simon family. Waterskiing at the cottage, and watching Rick and my dad windsurf in the Cape Hatteras Sound seem like just yesterday. One year, we brought my two small children and Jakeson loved "hanging" out with the guys. They with a cold beer and him with his water bottle. Chris was always like a second mother, and I enjoyed our many conversations on the windy sound; Chris always willing to offer her kind and considerate advice to a new mom. I can't say how sorry I am to hear of this loss. Rick's impact on his friends and family will always be cherished. Your family are in my thoughts, and I hope the wonderful life and memories you created will offer some comfort during this very sad time. Lots of love, Courtney, Doug, Jakeson, & McCartney

Dear Chris, Jenna and Steven: Brian and I extend our most sincere condolences to your entire family. I was Rick's first dental assistant when he moved to Cobourg and we had a wonderful working relationship that turned into a friendship. I will miss the great chats we had when we met up on our walks. Brian always enjoyed analyzing the Toronto Maple Leafs with Rick when they had the chance. Hold on to all the wonderful memories you have created.
Rick was my dentist for many years. Always loved to hear him humming and singing as he worked. A very caring gentleman. So sorry for your loss
Such sad news. We loved listening to all of the tunes he hummed as he worked on our teeth. Our deepest sympathies.
Rick was a great father, friend and confrere. To quote Thoreau. “Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them”. Rick led life to the fullest and although he left us much too soon I would submit that he “sang his song”.
Our family was so sorry to read about the loss of Dr. Simon. He was our family dentist for many years, and we so enjoyed his sense of humour and his singing. Our deepest sympathy to the family. Sincerely Linda Flindall and family.
My heart is saddened to see that Dr. Simon has passed away. He became my dentist when I was 14 years old. He was the best! Great humour, kind and caring. My sympathies to his friends and family.
Dear Chris, Jenna and Stephen💜 Your loss is going to be felt by many people! Rick touched many lives and I will never forget his energy and vast pool of tunes that lightened every visit to the Dentist! I hope he’s in a better place now windsurfing thru the oceans💓
Very sorry to hear of Rick's passing. Sending warm condolences to the family. ❤️
Dear Chris, Jenna, and Steven, We are so sorry to hear of Rick’s death. His energy and humour were always so invigorating and we have many fond memories of the “Court”gatherings we shared with you and the rest of the Court Crew. I’m very sorry for your loss. Sending all my love to the family. He was such a wonderful man. He was the best Dentist. He made me laugh so much and was always so happy. He had the best humour. He will be missed by so many.
Growing up, Rick and Chris were like second parents to us Green kids. My fondest summer memories are from our annual visits at the Simon’s cottage on Jack lake - spending all day on the water, Rick driving the boat or showing off fancy tricks on the kneeboard or wakeboard. I knew instantly what a cool, energetic, and hilarious guy Rick was! I was at times shocked that Rick and my dad were best friends (no offense, dad!) Rick powered through his illness with courage and grit. He was unfairly taken far too soon but I will always remember him as a most loving and warm man. His death is met with deep sadness and feelings of loss. I am thinking of you, Chris, Jenna, and Steven.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
