What a joy it was to perform on stage decades ago with Francoise where her personality shone just as it did in real life. My deepest sympathies.

Doris Heffernan - February 17, 2025

If you knew Francoise, you knew she loved colour. Francoise and I were coworkers at St. Michael for several years, more importantly, we were friends. For the past ten years or so, we were band mates in the New Ventures Band. Wouldn't you know it, Francoise managed to find, and purchase, a pink trombone. That was Francoise in a nutshell, she knew her mind.

Julie Tremeer - February 15, 2025

I was saddened to hear of Françoise’s passing. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched. I first had the privilege of knowing Françoise when she welcomed me as a 15-year-old student volunteer in her class at St. Michael’s School, and later during my teacher’s college practicums. Finally, we were colleagues for five years at St. Michael's School, where she was both my mentor and friend. Françoise’s memory brings me joy and a smile. It’s a reminder of the warmth, kindness, and inspiration she so freely shared with others. She had an incredible impact on me and many others, and I will treasure the moments we shared. Rest in peace, Françoise.

Joan Watton - February 15, 2025

It was an honour to know Francoise as a valued colleague and as a friend. During one of my last visits with her, as she worked on her newest crocheting project, she said that she realized her whole life she had loved being creative and making beautiful things. Her talents were endless. The most beautiful thing she created was a legacy of dedication, faith, kindness, humility, and grace. Condolences to her family on your loss. Rest In Peace, Francoise.

Kimberly LaFontaine - February 14, 2025

I worked with Mlle. Emery at St. Michael School for over 25 years. Her deep faith, commitment to her students and wonderful demeanor made her a valuable member of our staff and community. Her one-of-a-kind personality was her charm. She will be missed by so many. Rest in peace, Francoise. God bless you. 🙏❤️

Andrea Logel - February 14, 2025

Francoise lived a life that truly mirrored the love and compassion of Jesus—she poured so much care into everyone she met, and her kindness left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her. As a teacher, she nurtured her students with such warmth and devotion, treating each one as her own. Her ability to engage in meaningful conversations and offer wisdom was a gift that made everyone feel heard and valued. We had so many chats as I taught with her over the years at St. Mike's and I learned a lot about life from her. The world is better for having had her in it, and her legacy of love, care, and teaching will continue to inspire. My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

Dianne and Lorenzo - February 14, 2025

Lorenzo and I were saddened to learn of Francoise passing. Francoise was always so kind and engaging. Sending our deepest sympathies to her family.

Jen Poole - February 14, 2025

I taught with Francoise at St. Michael’s for two years. We became fast friends as we worked across the hall from eachother. She is the first person who welcomed me when I moved to Cobourg over 25 years ago and we actually were room-mates for a short while. She was one of the kindest, most caring humans I know. Throughout the years we frequently checked in on eachother and gave one-another updates on important things going on in our lives. She loved the simple things like her garden, crafting, her kitties and chatting with a friend over a tea. I will miss her quirky ways, kindness and genuine care for humanity. She was one of a kind and a loyal, dear friend to myself and others. Fly high Francoise and know that in your time here you made a difference to the lives you touched. Rest easy sweet friend!

George and Maria Gariepy - February 14, 2025

Sylvie Plourde-Forster - February 13, 2025

Françoise and I have known each other for at least 36 years. We both taught at St- Michael’s School and became friends right away. Françoise and I had many chats about work, family and life. I have a lot of great memories with her. She was involved in my engagement proposal. She visited my daughter at SickKids Hospital. We enjoyed golfing together which Francoise was very a persistent and honest player. We took some painting and drawing classes together. Her creativity was exceptional, she always had a project in her mind. Françoise was kind to everyone and very spiritual. Even through her hard time she showed lots of faith and amazing strength. Françoise, tu étais et seras toujours mon héros. Sending love and peace to the family may she rest in Peace.

Maya Hutcheson - February 13, 2025

I had the pleasure of being taught by Mme Emery for two years (grades 1 and 2, from 1995-1997) at St. Michael Elementary. She made such an impression on our class. She was creative, dedicated, quirky, and so caring. She always called us “mon petit chou” as a term of endearment. We all thought that the literal translation, “my little cabbage” was very funny. I know that she has made such a positive impact on so many through her work as a teacher and will continue to be remembered very fondly. Sending lots of love and strength to all of her family and friends who lost her too soon.

Barbara Craig - February 13, 2025

Françoise was one of the smartest people I have ever known. She studied koinè Greek informally after she retired, with some tutoring from friends. Within a couple of years she was able to read along with us, because she had worked so hard to learn the grammar and vocabulary. Françoise was kind and gentle. Anyone could tell that she was exactly the right kind of person to be in the teaching profession. She had great faith, courage and spunk. My condolences to her family, who meant so much to her.

Susan Devlin - February 12, 2025

John and I are so sorry to hear this news. She was a great friend to John's mother Roisin. We are forever greatful for that. Our thoughts are with you

Silvia Panarella - February 12, 2025

Heike Kwok - February 12, 2025

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mlle Emery. She was a very talented and dedicated teacher to her students . All of my 4 children were very fortunate to be taught religion by Mlle Emery. I have such fond memories of her tie dye T-shirt's she made with the kids . Sending love and peace to the family may she rest in Peace

Anne Jones - February 12, 2025

I remember when Francois came to Cobourg. My husband hired her to teach at St. Michael's School. That had to be many years ago. I can't believe that she has past away so young. Peace and Prays be with her family. Anne Jones

Ruth Shehan - February 12, 2025

Francoise and I crossed paths many times throughout the years. Firstly during our theatrical acting stints with Northumberland Players in the late 90’s and later, after retirement, we became golf buddies. Francoise loved the game, always trying to improve with such patience especially when searching for lost balls. (mostly mine). Rest in Peace my friend. I will miss you!

Jenny Duda and Randy, Hannah and Will Richardson - February 12, 2025

Mlle. Emery was a very dedicated teacher that had a true interest in her students. She cared to understand their interests. She had an incredible faith. We’re glad she discovered her artistic abilities well before her retirement. I was inspired by her talent for observation. Rest in peace dear Francois.

Peter Schmitz - February 12, 2025

So sad. Francoise was an original thinker. She articulated her thoughts well. That said, I was advised not to say this, but having known her for a time, I found Francoise, "delightfully eccentric". She knew her mind and wasn't shy about expressing her thoughts. I am glad to have known her.

Terri Dowle - February 12, 2025

Francoise was a teacher whose lessons extended beyond academics. I will always remember her student's tie dye t shirts hanging to dry on the playground fence. I enjoyed our days working together at St. Michael's School. Rest in peace, Francoise.

Kayleen Hogan - February 12, 2025

I am sad to hear of Mme Emery's passing and seeing her photo posted here, I remember her face so well. My family and I have such fond memories of growing up in French immersion at St Michael's School and we still talk about the amazing teachers we had there, Mme Emery being our Grade 1 teacher. Sending hugs and warm thoughts to her family as they grieve this sad loss 💛

Sandy Wood - February 12, 2025

I was privileged to be part of Françoise’s helping team toward the end of her life. She was always interested in MY life as the conversation steered away from her own; so completely self-less. Godspeed my friend 🕊️

Rob, Lori and Brodie Majdell - February 11, 2025

We were so saddened to hear of Mme. Emery’s passing. She had a beautiful spirit and shared it with all that were fortunate enough to have known her. Francoise took delight in sharing her first language with her students and they in turn, benefited from her caring passion. This is one of her many legacies. May her family (and her many Cobourg friends) find solace in the shared happy memories of times spent together. May they provide some semblance of peace and comfort during this sad time.

Carolyn Lawton - February 11, 2025

I am so sorry for the Emery family loss of this amazing woman. She had a kind heart and cared for everyone she came in contact with. Francoise was an amazing teacher at St. Michael School where we met. Our friendship continued outside of school. We took lessons to learn how to watercolor paint. We shared many ideas when completing other art projects. My children, Trevor and Rosalyn sent time with her talking about their future hopes. I imagine her in heaven teaching art lessons to the angels. The Lawton family will miss her greatly.

Michelle Wright (Diminie) - February 11, 2025

Francoise was an active member of our Bible Study group. She will be sorely missed by all of us. She exhibited a strong Christian faith and a positive outlook at all the meetings she attended. We know that a place has been reserved for her by our Lord.

Therese & Barry May - February 11, 2025

Our sincere condolences to the family on the passing of Francoise. Our son was in her first class of teaching in Cobourg and she always remembered his birthday. I think he tested her a lot. She always had a kind word & smile when we saw each other about or at Church.
