Joyce Marie Harvey

September 14, 1928 - January 29, 2025

Joyce passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at her home in Cobourg, Ontario, surrounded by family. Predeceased by her loving husband and best friend, Ernest (Ernie) Harvey. Beloved mother of Bruce (Jan), Robert (Anne), John (Heather) and David (Julia). Loving grandmother of Tamara (Joel), Gordon (Kelly), Stephanie (Jeff); Kevin (Martina), Megan (Brock); Sarah, Emily (Mike); Nigel and Abigail. Dearly loved by her great-grandchildren Samantha, Jacob, Annisa, Bella; Caleb, Lilian, Thomas, Rosalind, Juniper; and Jonathan.

Predeceased by her parents John (Jack) Ellsworth Campbell and Audrey Vera Campbell (nee Woodley) and siblings, Robert Bruce Campbell, John Murray Campbell, William Neil Campbell and Olivia Gail Brady. Joyce loved her many nieces and nephews.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her many friends that she met over the years in Toronto, North Bay, Scarborough, Montreal, Winnipeg, Agincourt, Cold Springs, and Cobourg. She consistently had a way of welcoming people into her home and making them feel comfortable and like family.

Joyce lived a full life, and often said the key to her longevity was laughter. At 96 she was a strong, independent, progressive thinker and never felt her age. Throughout her life, she kept her sharp wit and was loved by all. With many thanks to Dr. Barnard-Thompson and Dr. Mulé for their kind and compassionate care.

A celebration of life will be held in the MacCoubrey Funeral Home Reception Centre, 30 King Street East, Cobourg, on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Words of Remembrance being shared at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Joyce Harvey.

Ann and Doug Closs - February 5, 2025

Dear Harvey Family, We are so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother, Joyce. When I think of Joyce, I remember a person who crammed in as much as she could out of life and at top speed. She moved quickly, she baked delicious scones from scratch in no time at all and just before welcoming her friends for bridge. Her quick sense of humour was delightful. Your parents were longtime friends of my parents, Pat and Don Gummer. They travelled together and spent many happy times in Florida. Each of your family members was special to Joyce. She loved all those fun-filled trips to Toronto and England to attend the latest concerts. Those special times will be important to draw upon now as you grieve the loss of your wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Warm regards, Ann and Doug Closs

Joyce was such a dynamic person! Kind, generous and full of laughter. I loved her laugh and her great hugs. I got to know her through her special relationship With my sister Geri and Brother in law Barry. Every time I came to visit we would always go up to see Joyce, or she would come over to Geri and Barry's house for either for an hour or shared dinner. I always told her " I want to grow up to be just like you Joyce." We all know she had a wonderful life, a happy life full of love and laughter and we will all miss her dearly.

The type of person that you could spend hours with. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Inga Belge - January 31, 2025

Such a wonderful woman! I wish Joyce had been a part of my life for a longer time because she was magic. Fun, funny, smart, proud and in equal measure, grateful and very much aware of how blessed her time on earth had been. 'We laughed a lot! At the dinner table. Oh we laughed!' She shared that thought often. Those boys of hers...their love and the laughter...to me, they were her secret sauce...the stuff that made her strong. Rest in peace good woman. A life very well lived.
