Kim Heydie DeMattos

November 5, 1958 - January 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Kim DeMattos at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Monday, January 13th, at 66 years of age.

Kim was the beloved wife of Basil of 45 years. Loving mother of Natasha (Jermaine) and Joshua (Ceilidh). Proud Oma of Jordyn, Isaiah, and Elijah. Dear sister to Tita (Trevor), Jan (Karen) and Louis (Colleen). Daughter of Joyce Ford and the late Norman Ford and daughter-in-law to the late Celeste and Linus DeMattos. Sister-in-law to Jackie DeMattos and late Steven DeMattos (Maria).

She was the glue that held our family together and had many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Kim was a devoted wife, mother, and Oma and always put her family first. She did everything in life with her whole heart, helping many people along the way. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved or on a cruise with Basil. She was very strong- willed and displayed this during her extremely short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Thank you to the many doctors, nurses, and PSWs at Northumberland Hills Hospital for the great care they provided to Kim over the last month. We are truly grateful for the compassion they provided to her and to our family during her final days.

A celebration of life will be held at The Best Western, 930 Burnham Street in Cobourg on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, 11am - 1pm.

Kim loved bright colours, and in her honour, we would like to ask guests to wear their favourite brightly coloured attire.

If desired, donations may be made to The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation.

Jennifer Darrell - January 16, 2025

Natasha - I am sorry you have lost your mother - it's an expressly painful loss for anyone to lose the one with whom we have bonded with, depended on and looked up to all our lives - truly from our very beginnings and it sounds like your mother was one who all depended upon. I understand her diagnosis was very recent so her departure is even more painful. I hope that during her brief illness you had plenty of time to revisit fond memories, laugh about experiences and lessons learned, heal old wounds, if there were any, and tell each other how much you loved each other. My deepest sympathies to you, your husband and children and your extended family.

Pat Devereaux (formerly Sinclair) - January 16, 2025
