It is with heavy hearts the family of Peter announce his peaceful passing at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Monday, January 6th, at 88 years of age.
Peter will be missed by his family in the Netherlands who he loved and spoke of often.
Peter was the beloved Husband of the late Emogene. He left this world to be with her only 10 days after her passing. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before they were reunited in death.
Loving Father of Vernon (Paulette), Howard (Ainsley), Chris (Mary-Rose), Brenda (Kevin Davey) and the late Rose (Art Burley).
Proud Grandfather of Howard Jr., Lisa, Peter, Donna, Tara, Jason, Andrew, Matthew, Cobi and Christina. Beloved grandfather to numerous great grandchildren.
Peter will be missed by his countless friends within the community. He loved to ride his bicycle to visit them and could often be found on the streets of Cobourg chatting with everyone. He lived up to his name of the flying Dutch Man.
If desired, donations may be made to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Dear Brenda, I’m shocked and saddened to hear of your mum and dad’s passing. You were such an amazing support to them I these past few years when Peter couldn’t get out. How fortunate they were to have you. I will miss chatting with both and can’t imagine your sense of loss. Memories of them live on in us and we will speak of them often. They were both so comical in their own special ways and will be missed by many. Take care of yourself knowing they’re together again.

Peter was a a great help with Petticoat Lane , the Hospital thrift store when we used to be in the old No Frills mall. He could be relied on to fix things for us and was much appreciated. The last few years our contact was limited to a wave from the veranda as I drove past his house. Rest in peace Peter.
